Default Still isn't a Scoob, but I like...

After I got home from the guy who bumped me earlier (see NSR thread), I decided to give the 205 a good clean. Mainly as I had a pot of new Poorboys wheel sealent I wanted to use, and I wanted the car to be clean as I had my DIY refurbed wheels to put back on.

Been working on the wheels for the last couple weeks with some wet/dry paper and sanding drill bits I had spare. Also bought a load of rattle cans of primer/white paint/laquer from Halfords months back, so put these to good use. Didn't do my arthritic wrist anygood but bollocks to it, sick of being a cripple all the time

2 bucket method, dried with wafle weave, wheels sealed several times inside and out before I swapped a mates spare set he'd lent me. All glass polished/cleaned and tyres dressed. Whole car waxed too.

Piccies aren't great, was getting dark as only just finished it...

Comments welcome (yes I know this is a Subaru forum by the way ).

Can't beat a bit of old school motoring, I like my old fords, but these are great for their power-to-weight. Looks mint as well

Glad you like mate. That exterior mods done now me thinks as I don;t wanna change anything. White wheels aren't everyones cuppa, but they do look good in the flesh. Gave the Magnex a good ol' polish too, so lookd neat round the back.

White wheels are great, but I'm baised. That said, it is a dark car and they do look better on dark cars

I always wanted them on my Scoob, but never got the chance. Just be a pain to keep clean, but I'll keep waxing them for easy brakedust removal.

Cleaning is a pain, you can probably just make out the colour of mine after a weeks use.

Poorboys is great though - the dust just wipes off, and once every couple of months I whip them off and clay them for the tar spots

Sounds like a plan. I don't have any issue with taking them off once in a while to clean inside too. When monies better I'll get some Autosmart tardis for tar spots etc. Just I have 15" wheels but a 283mm big brake hit underneath. The calipers have about 2mm to the inner rim, so much so that the balancing weights are on the very very inside of the wheels

Stops like a bitch on heat though

I just think that dirty white wheels look awful. I've invested in some nice wheels so why shouldn't I look after them

May I ask what you use when cleaning them? I've previously used Autoglym Clean wheels Autoglym Clean Wheels 500ml from Halfords Price £5.99 3 For 2 On ALL Car Cleaning Products, which is ok, but on white wheels I may need something stronger but not harmful to the laquer.

Any ideas?

I use muc off to clean them and whatever clay/polish I have lying around to get the tar spots off. The trick is the layer up some poorboys wax.

Poorboys Wheel Sealant - Poorboys Car Care and Detailing Products

I put about 4 coats on inside and out when I fitted the wheels, and add another coat or two every time I clean them (but I can still get my hand between the wheel and the caliper) and in all honesty, I could get most of the dirt off with a dry cloth it works that well as a protective layer. When I polish/clay the car to get the tar spots off, the wheels are off the car and it gets another 3 or 4 layers of poorboys then

Excellent, I may see if I can afford a couple cheap bits for my wheels from Polished Bliss sometime soon then. Sounds like it's worth it.

P.S. wheels are dirty allready Gone a creamy dust colour.
