So I'm going to do exactly as dogpole has done and stick it to the front bumper.

why is the stick on plate illegal? as long as it's reflective and has correct font / spacing it should be fine.

Makes sense then. Although plates produced before 2006 may not have / don't have to have the BSAU marks on them. Try arguing that one and say "I heard it on Police Interceptors Chanel 5. The episode that was on 6th March 2009"

Copy and paste from the dvla site....

ReflectivityThe British Standard also requires that a number plate must be marked with the followinginformation: - l The British Standard Number (currently BS AU 145d) l The name, trade mark, or other means of identification of the manufacturer or componentsupplier. (The company who actually make the number plate.) l The name and postcode of the supplying outlet. (The 'supplying outlet' is taken to mean acompany whose business consists wholly or partly of selling number plates.) l A non-reflective border and the Euro-symbol with the national identification letters areoptional additions. l There shall be no other markings or material contained on the number plate.Further information about the British Standards requirements can be obtained at BSI Group.

I have two little metal 'L' brackets made which screw up below the top of the bumper and then the number plate is stuck onto the brackets, the number plate is slightly smaller too.

Sorry for the HiJack, but any more Newage ideas?

I think I will have to go down the smaller plate in the OE position on mine, but don't fancy getting bummed by the 5-0.

Anyone tried a sticker right on the front of their bonnets?

I use the standard location with the front part of the box intact. Perfect IMO, it looks stock and you can put your IC spray nozzles behind the plate too. Doubt it will affect the cooling that much.
