Default Newage Ra to Classic Ra

I bought my first impreza last year. A 52 plate bugeye sti Ra that had been fully conveted to the blobeye spec. The car was mildly modified with the exhaust, intercooler, CAI etc. It went well and looked the part. However, I recently part exchanged it with a friend for a 96 Sti Ra V-Ltd. This was the ex whiteline Uk demo car and has every component they sell fitted to it including verus coilovers with remote dampers. It has also been treated to an Omp cage + race seats, there are a few go fast bits under the bonnet also. The newage Ra is their new demo car and you should see what they have done with that. Keep a look out in the Jap magazines in the next couple of months. One word Awesome!!

Anyway here are the pics:

Yes the blue is the original colour. The car is a Version 2 Sti Ra V-Ltd in mcrae blue and only 555 were built to comemerate Mcrae's win. It has air con, electric windows and no Dccd or central locking.

How do you find the difference going from newage to classic?

Nice cars both of them.

The power delivery is totally different. The newage is really punchy low down and gave you a real shove in the back at 3.5K revs, Where as the classic power delivery is much more progressive and linear. It doesn't feel as if you are going as fast but you know it when you check the speedo.

As for the handling, well its difficult to compare as the newage was standard besides some eibach springs and to be honest being my first subaru i wasn't all that impressed. It had lots of grip but understeered on the limit and i had a couple of scares on the backroads.

The new car with the complete whiteline set-up is absolutely amazing. You know that old saying it handles like its on rails well that sums it up. Just point and go its like 4 wheel drive go kart. No body roll whatsoever, the only limit is the tyres and the size of your heehaws!!!

Fantastic car. I've got number 221 and they do look like they've just come off a Rally stage! The large pics on the RA forum really show how clean the car is. Well done.

I'm wondering if yours has had a different gearbox fitted as they all came with DCCD as standard! I notice someone has fitted side and rear spats.

Love the boot without a spoiler!

The specs (for all us anoraks out there).....

Special Features:
- only 555 cars were produced
- 'Colin McRae' and 'Derek Ringer' stitched into STi seats
- applied model code GC8C4DD
- unique paint code selected by Colin, saltire blue, colour code 53C
- DCCD
- Closed Deck Block
- Short Ratio gearbox
- Rear LSD
- Fifth fuel injector on the inlet manifold
- Rally style roof vent
- FIA "World Rally Manufacturer's Champions Subaru 1995" badge on left hand side of bootlid
- No rear wash wipe
- No electric mirrors
- No side skirts or rear corner spats
(Taken from the RA forum)

My Number 221
