De-Spoilered Bugeyes
I just bought a bootlid for the princely sum of 99p, and have decided to go down the spoilerless look on my Bug. Does anyone have any pics of spoilerless Bugeye (or even Blobeye) boots?
Thanks
Myles

I'm not a fan of big spoilers when not rallying so like the idea, however, I find that all newages look odd without any spoiler at all due to the shape of the boot. Classics can get away with it.
I tried the same thing on my hawkeye, but put a lip spoiler on to "straighten" out the line of the boot.

OEM Subaru part. About a £150 I think (with brake light for rear window).

Had mine off for about 6 months now and not found any difference in the handling. IIRC the low level WRX spoiler does'nt create downforce till over 100mph.

white scoobs and dark scoobs get away with it imo. my dark blue bug looked really good when i had the spoiler off to change it but i prefer spoiler.
white scoobs with carbon bootlid look a bit special though imo

i had the same thing in mind, including mounting my reverse cam in the lock hole and sinking the third brake light leds into the boot lid itself. not sure i'll ever get round to it now, but keep us posted with your progress!

FYI JTaylor, the colour is Dark Blue Mica 95H. A frontmount and bulgeless bonnet would stealthify it nicely! Next question is bung the holes, or fill them. The lid needs a respray in any case! And if anyone has a cheap lip spoiler, I might see how that looks.

I put coilovers on it and took it to Kenny brown in Hillington to get the geometry set up, not sure how low it is, got him to set it up for knockhill, the wheels are only 17's with 40 profile wheels, since that pic ive added the STI winglets to the front so it looks a bit more aggressive, I also have a front lip in black but not sure if i will put it on, im hunting around for rear spats for the back bumper... any ideas where to get them would be great

It WAS jammy, I was expecting to get big bids right at the end, never happened!

personally i would fill and repaint. if you bung the holes then it should, IMO, be a temporary measure. it's a shame to spend time and money on something which could look great, only to have cheap plastic bungs in the holes in the boot lid. i realise this means the filler would have to be drilled out if a spoiler goes back on in the future, but sometimes half-measures just don't do the job properly.....says the lazy git with the discoloured number plates and a car in desperate need of a wash!
