Default our 99 uk turbo

1999 Subaru Impreza 2000 Turbo 4WD, facelift model, totally standard, unmodified, unmolested, comfy seats, white dials, momo steering wheel etc, has full service history, and had the engine rebuilt by subaru at 60000 miles, including clutch, cam belt

Few piccies forgive my crappy phone pics and a dull morning down

Aha! you have already beaten me to it, yes the mods I had in mind were....

Dump valve and slightly louder back box
Tinted windows on rear, for the bairn in the summer (yeah right any excuse )
I want the STI 6 spoiler eventually and the lip for the front bumper
Upgrade the sounds
Better wheels and bigger turbo (maybe next year when we have saved up again! )

Dump valve, no. Better back box, yes. Bigger turbo, not without suporting mods and a remap!

This is how you modify an MY99

without being rude, ns04 does kinda know what hes talking about. not saying follow him like a sheep, but if you wanna run safe power and have mods like a bigger turbo, supporting mods are pretty much vital unless you like engine rebuilds.

if like me currently running just a decat and a b.o.v. (i like them too - the chav in me), then a remap isnt essential. but a bigger turbo requires a decent fuel pump to deliver more go go jiuce for extra power, and a remap otherwise youll boost your engine too pieces and spank fuel cut everywhere.

he was only offering friendly advice imho.

Whoa, Chill! I was saying it slightly in jest, hence the smiley!

A dump valve upgrade is completely unnecessary on a car anything like std; the std one is excellent. An aftermarket one will, most likely, make the car run worse.

Many on here have gone the aftermarket route and then swapped back to std only to comment what a positive difference its made. If you like the sound, furry muff, but go into it with your eyes open!

You should, of course, make your own decisions when it comes to your own car, but you should also be mindful of what those of us who have been there and done that and got the bill, say! Lest you end up wasting money or facing a big repair bill!

SN is an excellent resource with some real experts on here (not me!) who can significantly enhance your ownership experience!

A good stage one upgrade is an aftermarket decat/sports cat exhaust, uprated panel filter, fuel pump and then a remap btw, will see a safe 270-80ish bhp and similar torque.

Get used to what you've got first would be my advice though!

Ns04

Ps Cheers Andy!
