I don't dislike them like I did at first, but I don't think I would buy one. You got the best colour and it looks ok from the front and side, but the rear is a bit of a dogs dinner IMHO. Still... the best hatch on the market I suppose.

nice m8 nice!!! it's rather annoying that subaru has given us a all new looking car, but yet puts the old wheels on, they really let it down time for a set of 18"

Just test drove a new STI today, was not a UK car though, Apparently the European imports get more kit like SAT NAV, and Push start Button and 18" wheels as standard.

Really nice to drive, and a lot smoother than the Hawkeye IMO

Is that the black one or the midnight blue?

Sorry but not to my taste and those chav tail lights. Nice colour, but the rest just looks so boring & plain. Not an STI in my eyes.

Looks good, hope you're enjoying it. I still think they look better in person than in a photo, you don't seem to get how wide/aggressive they are in any photo's I've seen of them so far.

Great looking car, shame they left the rear light design to a 15 year old max power reader.
Still haven't seen one in the flesh but everyone who has says they look miles better than in the photos.
Got any shots of the rear seats, under bonnet, boot and dash?

In the flesh they really look the part with 18's and 245 tyres on them, sort of squat.

Difficult one to answer this. (And sorry for hi-jacking the thread).

Out of the box it's very capable but it's a slightly different approach. The car is put together far better than the older models - but it's a lot quieter and a softer ride inside. All in all more refined than the outgoing model.

Coming from mine it felt too soft but to be fair mines got essentially a prodrive pack and custom suspension over the standard STi.

And hypothetically speaking the brakes smoke really nicely if it's abused on track for a while

I'm looking forward to the softer ride, Dad's old STi kills my back That was one of the main things that put me off of Scoob ownership, well that and the torque steer.

I think that they look MUCH better in the flesh, it's a very un-photogenic car!

Still to see one on the road, but the 17's are just lost in those bulbous arches. The seats do not have much of a shape to them.

The rear Ned lights just ruin the back end big style.

However, it does look pretty good from the front end. The white one tested in EVO mag with 18's fitted looked the best I've seen yet.

Next year you will get socked for £950 tax when you buy a new STi, plus any new age Scooby will be paying £440-450 for a yearly disc from 2009. Nightmare!!

Sorry for some negative comments but I wouldn't buy one.

Nothing wrong with negative comments, no need to be sorry. What a dull world we would live in if everyone drove around in the same dullard car, sadly the world may come to that but for now, and thanks to the like of Mitsi and Subaru making the Evo's and STI's, we still have access to sub 5 second 0-60 cars for twenty something grand, hats off to them for that at least even if opinions are divided on ownership and looks. But on the tax fron the MY08 STI will pay a few quid less tax than the outgoing new age STI thanks to it being under 250 co2's not just over it Once you get over the hurdle of this new first year tax, thanks Labour. Glad I've ordered mine this year... on 18's.

I'm quite looking forward to some exclusivity, I see so many classics and new age that this new 08 model will be quite rare for a year or so perhaps?

I'll definitely be considering one when my ST comes up for renewal, I've not driven one yet but by all accounts it's a much more refined car than the outgoing model. As I said before they do look much better in the flesh, they have a lot of presence and are much larger than they look in the pics

I can't wait for my Dad to bring his up so that I can test drive it
