Default Been away for a year but just bought a WR1

Hi All,

Well, after a year away from Scooby ownership I am back. Just sold my Focus ST and bought a WR1 !

Absolutely amazing to drive and so, so happy with it I don't think the pics do the colour justice but wanted to get a couple posted:

Cheers

Looks very nice... love the WR1... although don't think i'll ever buy a newer Impreza now the way the tax is due to go up... it means the classic can only go up in value...

Road tax - Parker's

£455 Quid for a years tax...!!! I think as and when I get back behind the wheel of another Impreza, It'll be another Type R...

OMG Scoobyslammed!!!!

That just can't be right!! Surely they can't just double the tax! Fair do's what a government.......

And to think (together with the whoppin' petrol tax) our lovely pot-hole roads won't get any better.

Lovely car by the way, my dream scooby

Classics are the future... if your gonna do a daft build, ie my old Type R... put it into a pre march 2001...

I do love the WR1... if I had enough spare income... I'd deffo buy one... but with recently selling up to get on the property market, at this moment in time I can't do both...
Maybe one day...

Oh well, something had to take a bit of the smile off my face about the WR1 Don't somehow see me trading it in for a hybrid just yet so guess I will just have to find another £200 odd quid a year !

The suspension is really quite firm but not sure how it compares to a standard STI. My last Scooby was an 03 WRX which in its original form was a lot softer. I had Whiteline springs fitted to that which lowered and made it stiffer but it was still nowhere near as solid as the WR1. All I know is that I can throw the WR1 into bends a hell of a lot quicker than I could with the WRX

What were your reasons for selling the Focus ST and moving back to the Impreza? More power, 4WD etc?

Cheers

Definately missed the 4WD. Having driven the Scoobys for quite a few years the Focus just didn't feel anywhere near as stable especially in the wet. The Focus is a great car and it's 2.5 Volvo turbo engine is smooth and powerful but it just didn't feel as fun or involving to drive. I upgraded it with a Superchips Bluefin which brought power upto 270bhp (according to Superchips) but to be honest this just made things worse inducing a really high level of wheel spin and torque steer.

Also (and probably the most important reason) the Focus was my Wife's car and she got bored with it so convinced my to buy the WR1

Cheers

Looks mint mate. When the WR1s first came out I wasn't sure of the colour but now I think it looks great and totally different.
