Smile A few pics of my Scooby based car

It is a Replica of the Ford RS200 Group B rally car,
Impreza floorpan with the 4x4 running gear and the 2.0 turbo lump.
Space frame chassis on top and then the fibreglass RS200 body
(approx 1100kg).

Now I have the body as I want it and just finnishing of the interior ( pair of red sparco seats and harnesses to be fitted this week as per the original) I am wanting to start looking at the engine possibly fitted 2.5 block, I would like to get 300- 350 reliable BHP which I think would be plenty with the weight but I am new to Subarus and trying to read as much on the forum
regarding this and to see what the best options are, It is a 1995 WRX orginally.

Awesome.
You don't have to go for a 2.5 bottom end, it's preferred by some when theirs go's to avoid it in the future.
You could easy see 350bhp from a red top engine with some trick mods and a map.

The car had done 95k so would like to give it a decent overhaul so I know it aint going to go pop !!, Have'nt spared much expense building the rest of it so would like to know the engine is good, Do the 2.5 have a good deal more torque ?, One of my previous cars was a EVO 8 MR with Ecutek puttin out 356 bhp/ 345ftlb atfw which was very good, So would be happy with approx
350ish, Don't want to bolt on bigger turbo for it all to go bang and have to start again would like to know its right from the get go

NOOOOOOOOO!!!

Thats criminal, Totally devalued the very essense that is an RS200.

An RS200 has a mid mounted BDT, not a poxy flat 4 in the front.
Sorry guys, im a purist when it comes to proper Fords, even modded fords should use ford parts/engines etc.

Fully appreciate the work involved and think its looks very good and i dare say goes well. Just a shame that its not the genuine article.

Point taken, but I have lusted after an RS200 for twenty years since first seeing on in the mid-eighties at Donnington when the 3dr Cossy ruled BTCC, Sue Collins was there with her Collins tuned RS200 and stood next to it on tick over the vibrations made your internals spin and you felt sick. With the Current market value of a genuine RS200 being circa 100K I ain't going to get anywhere near one, Instead I have one that is dimensionally correct/ opens in the right places, Has reliable easy to source/ replace and tune Scooby parts, Is probably as quick (bar the 2.1 EVO 650Bhp versions, The road cars sold by Ford came with 250Bhp) is a whole lot better to drive (Originals had woeful brakes and awful gearboxes). So I am more than happy

Fair comments mate. At least you seem to know enough about the 200 to appreciate what the original was all about.

Having said that. You seem have made a beautiful replica. Well done.

Any interior shots?

What gearbox is on it? The 95k mile one from the MY95?

If the engine and turbo is from a MY95 WRX saloon then the turbo is capable of 340 HP.

With the running gear you have there you could get a nice 330HP / 300lbft with a few additions, namely bigger injectors, exhaust / headers, panel filter, fuel pump, regulator and remap.

Nice work there

P.s. the extra torque on a 2.5 with the turbo you have (TD05-16g) will probably break you gearbox.
