Subaru Impreza WR1
First thoughts on the WR1 : I f*cking love it!
Thought it would be a long process getting to terms with it after the P1, but as soon as I saw her I knew it was the right decision. Only covered 13k miles from new. Standard bar Prodrive mudflaps and a front splitter, which makes the front end of the car look superb
Interior is just like any newage Impreza, with a few extra goodies thrown in. STi bucket seats, WR1 alloy gear ****, aluminium WR1 tax disc holder, unique plaque, Intercooler water spray and of course the manual diff controller buttons...
The colour is obviously not to everyones tastes, but it certainly turns heads and like I've said many times, I love it!
Bold statement, but I'd actually say I prefer the looks of the WR1 to the P1. Not to say the P1 isnt a fantastic looking car, it certainly is and always will be an icon. But this thing makes the classic Impreza's look dated. Its weird.
The drive is similar. Notchy, very close ratio 6 speed gearbox. Acceleration seems tip top, and the brakes are uprated jobbies so stopping shouldnt be too much of a problem. Liking the look of the gold calipers, too, and the Prodrive alloys which I wasnt keen on a few months ago really do suit the car very well.
The exhaust is really nice, but not quite loud enough for my liking, so in the process of getting a full 3" system decat from RCM, then fitting that before it goes in for a remap with Andy Forrest on the 19th Feb with a few other bits and bobs.
Its been really sh*tty weather lately, so the only pics I have are these, first one from the previous owner...
The pics simply do not do the car justice. In the flesh/metal its beautiful. Its also on an 04 plate now, but I've already ordered the W121 EVL (WR1) plate through DVLA
Obviously I could have bought a similar spec'd Impreza, Spec C etc. But I've always wanted a WR1 due to the colour, limited editon factor, little extra comforts, it being a UK car and the overall package.
Over the moon with her so far. Happy times

The P1 is and always will be a fantastic looking motor. I just think the newage Impreza's make the classics look dated now. Not in a way that it makes them look awful, but in a modernised world sort of way. Just like the Hawkeye and now the 2008 Impreza's will make the blobeye look dated.
I havent used the manual diff controls yet. Not at any length anyway. Flicked it on for a couple of minutes but then put it back to auto. I'm sure it will be more suited to track conditions.
Like has been said, the colour in the pictures dont do it justice. It looks so much nicer in reality. Its a bit like the Racing Blue on the Clio 182 range. Photo's dont quite grab the attention of it.
Got a K&N Short Ram induction kit, which will also be mapped by Andy on the 19th. Was pretty expensive, but didnt want the heat soak and engine temps affecting the map. Look forward to it, but not the driving off boost until the remap!
Thanks for the comments guys. Will post more pics when the new plate is on.
Really fancy detango-ing the front end too, but dont want to mess up the lights, as I've heard mixed opinions on the process!

Cheers. I would like to detango the front, and although a few people say its a simple job, others have had problems and the OE headlights arent cheap for replacements either

I held off de-tangoing for ages for the same reasons. Eventually I plucked up the courage and went for it. It was an absolute doddle and has made a hell of a difference.
DO IT..........
V.Nice car too

I was going to take some pictures of my now de-tango'd WR1 in the blistering sunshine. Sadly, it decided to rain instead, so I got a few snaps and then called it a day.
The front end looks so much better now, in my opinion. Especially in the flesh
Hopefully should be sunny this week so I can get some better ones!
