Smile New mirrors and seat - I treated myself for my 40th birthday!

Mirrors:

Seat (I need to lose some weight to be able to enter/exit the car with some dignity)

Only a few more bits to do and the car will be "finished" - have to be careful as the wife reads this stuff

Good to hear of another man not afraid to treat himself for his 40th birthday. I did the same last year, only I want to continue treating myself with bits for the scooby. I know I shouldn't but can't help myself. Some of us need a 'Scooby Anonymous'. Also glad that someone else has the 'wife effect'. I'm currently having to keep all mods under the bonnet and now that I have just passed 40, trying to think of an excuse for 'needing' the afterburner vortex and new spoiler.

Doesn't the seat obstruct your side view?
The car is looking good

Did you manage to get the side mounting on the seat fixed to the sliders? If so how, was thinking of getting the Prodrive sparco seat for the P1.

We took the subrame off the STi seat, and mounted this to the side mountings that came with the Sparco seat - these ware then bolted to the original floor mounts (hope that makes sense)?

The Sparco seat is "fixed" via bolts onto original runners - but these bolts can be taken out if the seat needs to mvoed forwards/backwards.

Here are the mountings:

Front

Rear

Yes, the nearside view is slightly obstructed - only marginally.

The STi is used for hillclimbs and sprints and does approximately 1,000 miles per annum - so day to day driving is not much of an issue.

I did have concerns over the seat but once you are strapped in, the feeling of being "one with the car" is great.

I do like the seat Richard, but doesnt the helmet restraint restrict your sideways vision?

Simon

I use a Sparco Pro Jet open face helmet, and as I am the only car on the hill, I don't have to worry about sideways vision (unless the DCCD launches me into a field!).

The helmet restraint is not as intrusive as the photograph show.

Happy Birthday, Richard. I am sorry I meant to call you up and do it personally on the phone, but last week turned into one of "those weeks" AND this week ain't going to be any better. 5 Cars to finish and have out the door for Xmas, all engine rebuilds and so-on.

Have great Xmas and a successful 2008 racing season.

Thanks for your custom this year. [AND the bottle of wine ]
