Makes a massive difference ): p.s. dont try and paint the handles in the doors, they are easy to remove so no point risking it

To be fair any plastic primers that came in a rattle can are toss

DynaCoat plastic primer is one of the best for ABS plastic, if never had a problem with it chipping or flakeing, it goes on clear so you can use any primer colour you want on top..

My advice is to wipe down the handles with some prep de-greases, rub down the handles with some 600 gritt, apply a light coat of Dynacoat plastic primer, bake it for 10 mins or let it air dry for an hour, apply some white primer mixed quite thick, bake it for 20 mins or let it air dry for an hour or two.. Rub down the primer with some 800 gritt, for an extra smooth finish, repeat then go for the base coat..

When doing the skirts and rear spats you'll need to open a big old jar of elbow grease.. I got mine mirror smooth but it takes loads of rubbing down, priming and rubbing down again.
