nash_wrx 11 September 2007 12:49 PM

yeah about the handles I uploaded the wrong picture, was playing about to see what it would look like.
what I actually did on the weekend was fitted new top wing, alloys and bonnet

Thanks for the feedback

[Davey] 11 September 2007 12:51 PM

I recognise that car.. Are you the guy that bought my crystal head lights? :)

nash_wrx 11 September 2007 12:53 PM

Yup thats me, the lights fitted a treat thanx bud.
The car has changed a tad since you last saw it.

[Davey] 11 September 2007 12:55 PM

Yeah defo looks a bit more modern :) You should get the door handles, skirts and rear spats painted... I did mine as soon as I got the car and it made a massive difference :)

nash_wrx 11 September 2007 01:01 PM

Yeah gonna do the rear spats and door handles this week end
getting new skirts so wont bother painting this ones

[Davey] 11 September 2007 01:05 PM

Makes a massive difference ): p.s. dont try and paint the handles in the doors, they are easy to remove so no point risking it :)

:eek2: you mind reader ill take em off then lol ...
thanks for the advise

[Davey] 11 September 2007 01:46 PM

And dont try and do it with halfords plastic primer ;)

nash_wrx 11 September 2007 01:57 PM

I've already learnt a lesson about Halfords plastic primer..
it's SH*TE . . !

[Davey] 11 September 2007 02:36 PM

To be fair any plastic primers that came in a rattle can are toss :)

DynaCoat plastic primer is one of the best for ABS plastic, if never had a problem with it chipping or flakeing, it goes on clear so you can use any primer colour you want on top..

nash_wrx 11 September 2007 03:53 PM

Ohhh excellent, where can I get hold of this wonderful product?

[Davey] 11 September 2007 03:58 PM

Any paint supplier will have it.. Doesnt come in spray cans though im afarid.

nash_wrx 11 September 2007 04:07 PM

thats no probs I've got access to a spray gun and compressor
thanx for the info

[Davey] 11 September 2007 04:14 PM

My advice is to wipe down the handles with some prep de-greases, rub down the handles with some 600 gritt, apply a light coat of Dynacoat plastic primer, bake it for 10 mins or let it air dry for an hour, apply some white primer mixed quite thick, bake it for 20 mins or let it air dry for an hour or two.. Rub down the primer with some 800 gritt, for an extra smooth finish, repeat :) then go for the base coat..

When doing the skirts and rear spats you'll need to open a big old jar of elbow grease.. I got mine mirror smooth but it takes loads of rubbing down, priming and rubbing down again.
