Took the long way home....
Had a Design Team meeting in Brynamman this afternoon and on my arrival at 2.30 the weather was awful, pouring with rain, soaking wet roads ......to my surprise when I walked outside at 5 o'clock there were blue skies and dry tarmac
So.....decided to take the long way home which involves driving the mountain stretch between Brynamman and Llangadog.....what a road! I'm sure loads of you have driven this at some time.
The first stretch prior to where I took the photos is so open across the top of the mountain that despite all the twisties you can still see if the road is clear

I love looking at photos like this. Reminds me of the rally. I've bought my World Rally Pass already!
Anyone who owns a scooby should, at least once, drive to wales and drive roads like these as the experience is just intense. Brilliant fun.
Design Team Meeting - You'r not an Architect are you Dave-W?

A4069 - one of the best roads in Wales!
Drove along there last weekend (albeit in the other direction). Even had an ice cream at the top!
<Sorry for minor thread hijack, but just had to show some more pictures of this road!>

Third pic is on the top end of the corner (Tro Gwcwr as it's known around here or Cuckoo Bend in English ) where my car is parked and if I'm not mistaken the second pic is the last "car park" before you head back down into Brynamman?
First pic I believe is about half way between the two points
I have the advantage of this stretch of road being 10 minutes from my house

You lucky man! Living 10 mins from that road - how do you avoid driving on it each day?! I have to drive along there each time I'm in south-ish Wales - even if it means making a 20 mile or more detour!!
You're correct on the locations of my photos. I assumed your car was taken just downhill from the hairpin - can (just) see the same minor road in both our pics.

Another meeting on the same project today but did the road on the way there, not the way home, so it's in the opposite direction this time......and a couple more pics
The base of the ascent....
At Tro Gwcwr (Cuckoo's Bend).....
Over the summit.....
The barriers are there for good reason and some are quite battered......
