Gurney Flap

Gurney Flap
I've been thinking about doing this for a couple of years now and have been scouring Ebay for something suitable to use.
After a couple of false starts where I got beaten in the auctions (on a trim flap off a late 90's Ferrari F1 car and the flap off an E30 BMW M3 EVOII) last week I eventually stumbled across something that was worth experimenting with.
At about the same time Frayz made a comment and showed some pictures of his Gurney flap on Puff's thread about BMW E36 spoilers on a classic bootlids - this was the first time I had ever seen another comment about Gurney flaps and spurred me into action.
I won the auction at a good price and was able to collect the item last weekend en route to a family function.
The item, a BMW 3 series E46 rear spoiler lip was too long to be fitted across the top of the spoiler on my Scooby so I took a deep breath, measured how long I needed it (twice) and cut a 9" section out of the middle (in order to preserve the shaped ends).
I superglued the two bits back together and left it to dry whilst I went around the Uxbridge car show.
After dinner that evening I cleaned the top blade of my current spoiler and fitted my Gurney flap.
Pics below (plus one of the whole car in B&W - as I've just found out how to do it on my relatively new camera).
