Default Classic Dash Project

Usual Story, classic dash goes grey, painted it black again but was never happy with it, so ordered a replacement from ebay, i didn't want to fit a new replacement dash only for the top half to start fading and going grey again, so it was either "flock" or "retrim"

I actually have a lack of pictures so far, due to the speed in which this was done

went into work at 2.30pm to find my replacement classic dash had arrived, nipped round the corner to the fabric shop and then to B&Q for some evostick "timebond" (my fav retrim glue )

splattering glue all over the plastic

left work at 6pm with it about 75% finished

plan was to cover the whole thing but it was just not possible with the fabric i had as it was not stretchy enough its "fake" alcantara which only costs £9/metre
need some nice edging or piping to "finish off" the join and do the sides, will update with the rest of the pics when its finished off

ummm well i have done a few things before so its about average on the PITA scale for me,

did the scoobs door panels a few years back in "fake" red alcantara, and my previous cars door panels, so i kinda knew what i was doing

some bits were a bit of a ****, mainly the right hand side with all the curves

looks really good so far, where abouts did you order the replacement dash from (I take it is second hand?)

If you were covering it could you not have used the original anyway!

keeps the pics coming, really interested in what this will look like when fitted!

updates

got most of it trimmed to shape

sides looked a little sketchy, so planned to sort them

still wasn't happy with the "join" between the top fabric cover and the plastic dash, so wanted something to cover the join

red piping fitted today to match the re-trimmed door cards and sti5 seats, glue still setting in this picture

door cards i did last year in "fake" red alcantara

wish i still had my roll cage

My mate does Prodrives dashboards and some for Teg and Harry Hockley as well. You paint on glue and then put a negative charge though the item to be flocked using what look's like a large torch with a basket on the end. The basket holds the flock which look's like a fine dust. You shake the flock over the dash and the neg charge makes the flock stand up(I think thats right)

He did my centre vent which I modded to hold 3 clocks with a piece of MDF. You can cover most things even wood.

StickyMicky your dash looks spot on, look's just like flock but cost less to do

I think it looks spot on.

I'd love to have the ***** to do this sort of thing, i would love a suede/alcantra finish dash and maybe door card plastic as well, with contrasting insert. But this is way out of my capability, i just love how it looks.
