Before/After - Silver/Anthracite
#1
A new you for your Subaru :-)
I decided to change my Compomotive MO 17x7s from their original silver to a sort of anthractite/titanium colour.
Anyway, here's the car before:
and here's the car after (on a track day with some brake dust):
and here's what they look like when everything's clean.
I'm happy with the new look. Just what I was after.
Isn't that WRC Blue a hard colour to capture!

Looks good.
Couple of questions 4 ya...
Can a colour change be applied to any wheels, and is it expensive?
Whad do you use to polish your car? That pic bottom left is fantastic. GT3 levels of shine! What did you use?
Thanx

Thanks.
Dear Mr Pond,
1. Yes, any wheel can have its colour changed. I had them done professionally by a specialist wheel repairer. Two of the wheels had a slight bend in them so I got these fixed first. I selected the paint colour to use. By a strange co-incidence the motor show was on at the same time so this made things easier as every manufacturer had their colours on display :-) They painted the wheel and then baked them and then applied multiple coats of clear coat. It's made for a very nice finish. I use the same polish and cleaning process on the wheels as I do on my car. The whole thing cost me $1100, which is about 360 quid.
2. As for cleaning, I use the Meguiars Soft Wash Gel every week (the purple one, it's much better than the gold one). The secret with this is that you use twice as much as they recommend and you use warm water. I polished the car one week before using Meguiars Gold Class. It's a one step polish and wax and delivers a fantastic shine for a fairly minimal effort when compared to the traditional 3 stage process. It keeps a good shine when used in conjunction with the weekly soft wash gel wash.
Regards,
David
