Clean Engine Bay & Underside
Well, a while back I cleaned my engine bay. No special tools, no hosing, no degreasers! Everything below is still a 'work in progress' as I'm always down south and my Type-R is up north safely locked up in the garage until summer.
Before...
After....
Nothing special as I still have a fair bit to do! Plenty of ideas in my head regarding engine mods, but they'll have to wait until I finish uni. Can't wait to get all those shiny bits and more power.
You might notice some bits missing in the bay itslef, that's because I've been playing around. Next job is to refurbish the manifold.
I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so one day I decided to get underneath and give it a good clean. Again, still a 'work in progress' but I've shifted most of the muck. I only took 1 photo, though. Doesn't look all that special but it will once I've polished everything.
Oh, here's what the car looks like...
That's the Impreza out of the way, now time to move onto the ROVER!
Currently have a '94 Rover 214 SEi as my runaround, and it needed a bloody good clean under the bonnet! So today was the day I finally decided to do it.
Before...
After...
I think it's scrubbed up pretty well.
For both engine bays I cleaned all the dirt away using a wet towel, dried everything up, and finished with CarPlan 'Original Black'.
That's all for now.

looks sweet - seems you have the same things in mind as me with regards to the upkeep of your type-R (funnily enough - mine's also black and i'm looking for some gold multispoke alloys )
any other pics of your car... just so i can make up my mind...?
Cheers
Raf.
p.s. gonna try cleaning my engine bay also this week and am after a nice shiny header tank (i think 'forge' do them) - to add a bit of 'bling' to the engine bay

I was thinking the same thing rfowler...
I got some engine degreasing stuff so I guess I should just find some sort of textured cloth and get to it!
Maybe get an engine steam clean first?

Engines are designed to get wet so don't panic. What happens when you drive in the rain?

Yeah, I went a little nuts on mine when I swapped it.
How did you go about cleaning the underside, and did you have undercoating on it? I don't know if what I have on mine is undercoating or just some mud and tar mixture.

Cheers for the comments.
Scoobyphil2000, like I said, it's a 'work in progress'. Once I'm done it'll be on par with yours.
Suby_speed5, yes, mine has the full underseal. I just kept scrubbing and it came off. It's hard work, though!
RAF1, here are some pics for you. They're quite old. Took them just after I washed it, so no polish and wax.
Cheers.

Eh? In a garage all winter? Driving a 214 instead? Cleaning the UNDERSIDE of a CAR?
Now I'm confused.... <walks away muttering about awd grip in the rain, donuts in the snow, actually DRIVING the bloody thing instead of polishing it etc...etc....etc...>
