Default My Bugeye , no longer standard

Its about time I shared my efforts to the Scooby Community, hope you all like it. All comments are welcome.
Thanks for looking

I was at the Alton meet this year but I was a week too late to show off the face lift it got this weekend, so I sat quietly in the corner
Really enjoyed Alton 2006, great atmosphere and a pleasure to attend. Some nice cars there.

Was completely standard when I bought it, looks a bit different now

In order to fit the STI lights to a UK WRX, as we all know, we need a wiring loom or wiring harness. There have been DIY guides floating around the forum but there is somewhere you can get 'true' plug and play looms with ALL proper connections. You can have your lights up and running within minutes. They are superbly made and are by far the best looms you can get for this job.

Head over to To Your Door From Around the World

A big thanks to George at Chaio Fang Imports for your help!

You will see a little grille badge in there, correct, its a Type UK and not an STI badge. My little modding effort to compliment the grille and I wouldnt sport an STI badge when its only a WRX. What you think?

I did the same on the back since those sticky Sparshatts badges are a slog to get off, so much so it took off the top layer of laquear! NOT a happy bunny, so I tried to disguise it with a Type UK badge. Rear Lights are different too.

Didnt think the 'rally' mudflaps suited my Silver Bugeye, they always seem to look better on black / blue Scoobies. These are the flaps / guards that Subaru sell, they are on their website but there is no picture of them so in case you were wondering...this is what they look like (got them front and back)

Im sure you can all spot the changes but it consists of STI lights, colour coded reflector covers, STI front grille with Type UK badge, black mesh lower grille and replica V-lip lower spoiler.

How it began...
1st day of getting it, needed a clean

Got loadsa things in my mind I still want to do to it, ie, Alloys.

Comments and recommendations?

Cheers,
Sc101.

The flaps are not very 'flappy' I know, but they are subtle.
I was right down the end at Alton. Near the super market. Didnt arrive until the afternoon so I got the end spot.

I am biased but here you go

Fog covers ?

Detango'd ?

Tints ?

STi 7 scoop - slighty bigger without looking daft like the STi 8 one ( IMHO) ?

Deffo a new slightly louder backbox ..........mine sounds like this

http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?...45284&q=calcam

Good luck and keep on modding brother

Looking good mate - same as mine but I've got the STi spoiler instead of the front lip and also some rally flaps. I'll get some piccies up this weekend. Where did you get the STi grills - is the surround easy to fit and does it just sit on top of the bumper?

Subtle mods. IMO are better so nicely done. I would agree on the STI7 scoop as your next mod.

Be good to see some piccys Si.
The STI grille is from Subaru, comes colour-coded and with an STI badge, which obviously I removed. The grille is very easy to install, its all clips and plastic screws, I did the lights and grille at the same time, but if I remember correctly all you have to do is remove those small covers each side of the grille and un-clip the old grille. The STI one clips in the same holes and sits ontop the bumper. Very easy mod.

I would agree on the STI7 scoop as your next mod.
Is the STI 7 Scoop a Bugeye or Blobeye Scoop? I get confused. If its Blobeye, how easy is it to fit?

The STi 7 scoop will be a direct replacement for yours IIRC. I think it's about 15mm higher than standard. Looks but subtle

I quite like the bugeye and was tempted to get one myself (got a blob in the end). I think changing the lights and indicators has made a large difference. The only thing I think you need to do now is get fog light covers, but the ones that completely cover them. I like bugs with those!
2 good examples!
Any more pics of yours cal? I've a black WRX too.

Scoober101,

Very nice mate. Tastful mods and it really does look great.

I just recently de-tango my my01 Bug and to say how much it changes the look of the car is unreal.

Keep up the great work mate.

Default Harnesses

I saw many iterations of so-called "plug and play" harnesses, but they needed you to cut, vampire-tap, tape and pray, and if ever you had to change a light, or wanted to return your car to stock, you were hooped.

I changed that. I have components to put any Subaru headlight into any Subaru - GC, bugeye STi or STi HID, peanut (or blob) eye, and 06+. I can do UK300/Prodrives/Orciaris as well.

AND... I produce levelling harnesses as well.

Everything uses factory connectors, plugs in (as many can attest to) and works. The levelling harnesses require you to loosen a bolt, install a ground lug and tighten the bolt, but everything is truly "plug and play". And, "unplug and unplay" as needed.

I've had to buy almost 300,000 pieces (plugs, retainers, seals, terminals) to make these harnesses, but I have comfort knowing I'm providing a quality product to those that need it.

I'm in Canada.

Heres a few pictures of my 52 plate silver bugeye WRX

When I bought the car it already has the STi lights and rear spoiler

My mods to date are
Green Panel Filter
Baileys DV12 VTA dump valve
EBC front discs and redstuff pads
Black mud flaps from performance creations (STI logo not WRX as I think the WRX one looks a bit Blue Peter-ish)
STi alloy gear surround
Stainless steel gear ****
Race box exhaust from Scoobyworld
Detango including oblong repeaters now wired up

Still to come
(Probably) Orciari front grills
PFF7 18" replica alloys (either silver or black)
Side skirts painted
Front lip
Mesh fog light covers
and whatever the funds allow ............ (LOL)

Apologies that the pics are several different sizes - still experimenting with photobucket..........................
