Cool Dusted off my old R5 Coupe this week

Well, after leaving it sitting around all year doing nothing I thought i'd drag my R5 Coupe out of the garage and take it to the Renault World Series this weekend at Donington. Seeing as it had it's first proper clean in godknows how many years, I thought i'd take a couple of pics:

That's the standard exhaust on the Coupe. Devil side exit with no silencer

I try to give it a rag once a month, but the last 8 and half months it's been "otherwise engaged".

The Renault 5 Coupe was/is the race version of the gt turbo that was built to compete in the Renault 5 elf Turbo Cup series. They differed from the "normal" gt turbo by having the following:

Turbo boost increased to 1 bar
Side exit exhaust
Stripped interior
Uprated, slightly lowered suspension
Michelin steel wheels with different offset
Full roll cage
Front upper strut brace
Brake cooling ducts to replace the front fog lights
And a few more little bits here and there

There can't be a great deal left in the uk. I've only seen about 12 including mine.

Cheers Dave. I did hear a rumor that the Prima car has sold, but I don't know how true that is. It's definatly gone from their website though. I know that Rowan Atkinson's old one sold a couple of months ago at auction for 3.5k. I was very tempted to sell my 5's and get it, but it never happened!

Hi,
I'm currently looking for one of the R5 Cup cars, do you know of any that are still around/for sale? I see that Rowan Atkinson's one is up for sale at £8k at the moment - do you know of any others?
Thanks

That's a strange name still,

When you consider the coupe to normally mean a 2door car with a non hatch boot and a sloping rear window.

Like a Capri Mk1 (Mk2-3 being designated a hatch).

Its still nice though But then I also have a soft spot having owned 2 GTT's
