Default Newbie :) Classic WRX

Hey new to the site, been looking around the last week trying to pick up as much information as possible. I brought it from a friend two weeks ago and loving everythin bar the constent visits to the petrol station :P

Had a 300bhp 2.1 turbo Escort before this and everything still feels the better car, even if it is slower thn the scort at the moment !! But hoping to source out a 2.5 engine for the car as a startin point - so any help on that . . .

Anywayz heres some pictures :

All comments welcome , oh and gonna get a slateing for this but i also have this as a track toy, i got offered at a bargin so couldnt resist

One more thing before i go, im only 19 and insured on mums named throu A-Plan, qouted : 1900. So if that helps any of the younger drivers out there

Who on here is the best person to speak to about tuning ?

Really, you still cant get insured at 21 ? I thought that was the magical age with most insurance, looks like i could have to stay on mums for a few more years then

Welcome.

Love the white scoob, tempted with a white one next. Nice track car as well

Have a look in the technical section for help on mods ect, one of the best ways to check out which mods work is to pop along to a local meet, you'll get to see the mods in place rather than in picture or online and find out the pit falls!!!!

Good luck tho!

Very nice, quite similar to mine. In fact I was wondering what mine would look like with a high rear spoiler... now I know! Cheers Harvez

As for parts, try ebay, you can get just about anything there. Good luck!

Not good hearing about all these over 21 struggling for insurance, i was sure i was gonna be able to get insured at 20 but never mind, What sort of no claims do you have if your still not getting qoutes at 21 ?

Daft Lad, if im honest the Evo has seen better days, its a Evo II Gsr, i brought it for 1800 so cant complain. Id put more pictures up but worried of a flaming i could get from Impreza owners :P Its since completly stripped out, no dash etc, one seat and a race cage welded in, waiting for the purspex windows to be made at the moment. Should be good to get some track action next year. One thing i noticed between my impreza and evoII, i know the evo has nothing in it and a light back end, but boy its REALLY twicthy at times, great fun thou

Dspeed, not thats not the house i live in, in the picture with the evo, thats my house! the joys of having no morgage at the moment

Hi, what's up with the power steering to require a new pump? Is it leaking? If so you can replace a cheap seal and sort this. If it whines but looks like it's got fluid then it probably needs more.

Cheers mate, yea it is leaking and it only starts to whine when it runs low on fluid, so you think it could just be a simple case of gettin a new seal for it ?

Yes, it's very common. If you do a search on here in the technical sections and put 'power steering' and search titles only you will probably find all the info you'll need.

There is a small rubber seal between the power steering bottle/reservoir (where you fill it) and the top of the pump (where the fluid goes in) This perishes over time and the fluid leaks out and gives the problem you have.
