Smile £750 & a lot of T-Cutting later :oD

Sold one of the scoobs today so bought a cheapy runaround for £750 as an in between car for the misses until she gets something better sorted. 1993 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 that was pretty badly faded.

6hrs of t-cutting & polishing later (No I can't feel my arms ) & even i'm still stunned at the results . Especially when you consider how much it cost & that it only has 60k on the clock:

It's not that far off. 6rs of the t-cutting got it as close as you're gonna get & it's definately not pink anymore. Obviously if a panel was painted you'd probably notice but to the untrained eye it looks brand new

Worth the effort then as you might even get more for it than you paid

My Mum has a red Astra that is white except for a new quarter panel after a carpark scrape.

Makes me cringe every time I see it. She won't get out there and do it.

The silver one Will more than likely be seen at cruises around Essex now

Had to be done though as the other half wanted something different although it did make her cry to see it go!! I don't think you could ever have a Subaru like that one again . However on the plus side we bought it a year ago & sold it today for £500 less than we paid for it LOL

Anyway we're looking at the options. Could be any one of the following:

BMW 3 series
BMW Mini Cooper
Civic Type R
Lexus IS200
Mazda 6
Mercedes CLK

As you can see we've not narrowed it down just yet LOL Got a feeling it's gonna be one of the top 3 though. She's always wanted a new shape beemer but saying that she was disappointed by our neighbours new 323 that we took for a blast yesterday. She hates small cars but said she'd love a mini The Civic Type R is kind of a compromise between a newer more refind car whilst still maintaining some sense of fun & performance.

Actually you know what....we really haven't narrowed it down LOL

We're in no major rush as the Corsa's a good little runaround that we'll more than likely trade in for more than we paid for it Oh & we still have the other scoob

Cliff - Funny thing is we took it to the BMW dealership today & they said they'd give us £750 as a p/x LOL. Although we may just sell it privately for more

Okay so today we test drove the Civic Type R, Mini One & a BMW 318. Jen was grinning from ear to ear after driving the Civic & the Mini & was pleasantly suprised by the performance of the 4 cylinder 318. She said the Civic was pretty quick (which was suprising after having a 12.8 second 1/4 scooby!) & that it stuck to the road like glue. It also had basically everything she needed & was also pretty comfortable. She fell in love with the Mini as it's such a girly car & she thought the interior was spectacular. The only problem was the performance so I think she wants to try a cooper & see if that can get her grinning a bit more. The Beemer was suprisingly good, if not a little bland on the inside, but it was comfortable, reasonably quick & quite refined.

I think the rest have been ruled out TBH as they wouldn't be what she was after driving 60 miles a day on country roads to work wheras with the rest at least she can have a bit of fun .

I have a feeling it will be between a Mini Cooper (01/02), BMW 318 (00/01) if she can find one in black with leather and either a red or black Civic Type R. All of which can be got for between £8k & £10k with good mileage

Thats a good little car for the price. You wont loose any money on it.

I picked up a 1.8LX Escort with full ford (annual!) service history and 62K on the clock for £500.
I only intended to use it for a 3month contract. but ended up keeping it as a station/tip run car. With a 130BHP ecu its not bad, until you come to a corner

But you can park it anywhere!

LOL

We weren't expecting to sell the Scoob so fast

29/03/05 - Take Scoob off the road & pick up Corsa in the evening
30/03/05 - Advertise Scoob on Eb*y
31/03/05 - Receive an e-mail from someone saying they'll buy the Scoob
01/04/05 - They collect & pay for the Scoob
02/04/05 - Test drive a Beemer, Mini & Civic
03/04/05 - Test drive the 323CI & put down a deposit

09/04/05 - We'll collect the Beemer

I'll probably flog the Corsa on Ebay as well but by my reconing we'll have only needed the runabout for 11 days LOL

If anyone else has had this much luck & speed with selling & buying cars i'll be amazed LOL
