Cool Our trip to Santa pod RWYB

My mate Lee and I went to Santa pod today to give his escort it's maiden outing Here are some of the photos

Lee challenged another rs2000 driver up the strip and I was to drive The other driver then changed to slicks This was a vulcan engined rs and was mint

That resulted in a 16.327 to me

Next Lee went up against a Honda civic type R

Lee only just got pipped to the line and also recored a 16.368 (IIRC)

All in all a day and the car drove back home under it's own steam

Aha so thats you!

It was me in the CTR!

I had a very crap 60 foot time of 2.8 as i had no grip whatsoever, the front was heading sideways at one point!

So i had to let off the gas change into second and start again out of VTEC did a 15.7 run then BTW.

My best time of the day BTW was a 14.64@97 not bad considering i still have the standard manifold and cat in!

Bit chilly though was'nt it!

Was the track damp ? I found that if it had any water on it at all you got zero grip.

I'm hoping to be going soon, but it's 350 miles round trip for me so it better be dry.

In that run that was actually my friend Lee who owns the car It was only his second run of the day because we only managed 4 runs between us That was his best run and he was a bit gutted to be beated just short of the line.

I have higher quality pictures of that run if you'd like them?

If its damp they do there very best to dry it with their jet powered heater

What they tend to do is chuck a bucket of water down in a certain area so people can 'burnout'
Thing is if you don't want to burnout like 90% of the people there it does'nt help with traction.

I've only been once and they did indeed have the jet thing out. I think the trouble is that the track is very grippy when it's bone dry but any dampness and it's very slippy indeed. As you as, the burnout area makes things worse, not better.
