Good choice mate, prefer the look of an 05 scoob but from a performance point of view its better.
I test drove an 05 STI last weekend. Seemed slow. Daz

Well cheers guys, I must say that I was expecting a bit more grief, so I am plesantly suprised.
I will try to answer some questions for you, here goes:-
The car is obviously an MR FQ340 (345Bhp). I am also running a full de-cat which the Evo boys and Mitsubishi state will add approx 15 - 20Bhp, so all in all a very approx 360 Bhp.
DannyB & Mad555,
Yes guys, soooooo much better IMHO than the grey.
ScoobyP1,
Fuel consumption is not good to say the least. Normal driving around town (not too hard) and I average approx. 18 mpg. On a 200 mile round trip recently to the coast (i.e. motorways) this figure went up to 24.8 mpg (so not too bad). Only problem is that I very rarely drive on motorways :-(
MattW,
Yes mate thay are Scoot automotive mudflaps. Very easy to fit I must say. If I can do it, anyone can LOL
Dazc,
Not wanting to pi55 anybody off, as I still have a soft spot for scoobys (duSTI will hopefully vouch for me), but this thing is just savage compared to a normal scoob. I feel the main difference between this and my old STi is that where the Sti's acceleration seemed to slow as I went through the gears, this thing feels just as mad in any gear. I would not have believed the 5th & 6th gear acceleration if I had not witnessed it !
Finally, over to my old mate duSTI,
I hope you didnt think that I would be away from the jap scene for long mate. (And Oy, keep the Audi thing quiet will you LOL). I hope you and your wife (or was it girlfriend ?) are both well, and you are looking after you know what (Still think I let you have a bargain :-) ) Now that I am back, hopefully we can catch up (ok from different sides of the fence now) at a meet sometime.
Stay Cool
Darren

Fuel consumption is no worse than an STi PPP on average although I think the Sti would be much better purely round town.
As Darren says the acceleration is savage, the car pulls from low revs without any hint of lag in any gear. Still now I look to change in 6th when I think I'm in 4th!
The ride is very hard, better in an MR because of the new suspension set up. The car never feels skittish though, and doesn't suffer from the bounce I always had in my old StiMy03. I like it, but many people don't, lots of talk about the Sti being a nicer daily driver and this is what I assume they mean. I prefer the ride in the Evo, but each to their own.
The big downer is servicing every 4500 miles. You can leave it 1000 miles so not so bad to get booked in, however its a pain every 6 months to have to do it. As far as servicing costs, maybe a little more than a WR1 (which is 6 month intervals) as the AYC oil gets changed.
Sound is very different, much louder than a PPP STi on full chat (Stock FQ330 comes with HKS exhaust) but quieter and less throaty round town. Subaru has that lovely flat four burble though which IMO is difficult to beat.

Yep I'll vouch for Darren ( a proper car freak like myself) providing I can have a spin in the car when I next see you
I still have that item mate and yes it was a bargain.
PM me if you go to any shows in the summer.

Just need to lower the car or get 18"s to decrease the gap in the front wheel arches.
Still can't believe how nice it looks in red, real eye catcher.

Cheers Guys, I really appreciate not getting roasted LOL
DannyB,
Yes mate I agree. I keep thinking about a set of 18"s, but the additional cost after buying the car is something I will get severe grief from the missus over LOL. I will have to keep trying.
Jim (duSTI),
Love to see you again mate, and of course you can pay for a go in the Evo :-)) Seriously, stay in touch and perhaps we can meet up sometime.
