Canon 300d pictures of my car today
Sunny day for a change, so thought I'd take advantage of it. Here's a few of my car. It would of been a bit cleaner, but went out for a drive last night in the pouring rain
canon 300d, 1/200sec @ f9, iso 100, 18mm
canon 300d, 1/160 @ f8, iso 100, 18mm, mounted on my roof!
canon 300d, 1/125 @ f7.1, iso 100, 22mm
canon 300d, 1/200 @ f5.6, iso 100, 18mm
canon 300d, 1/125 @ f8, iso 100, 18mm
canon 300d, 1/1000 @ f4, iso 100, 28mm
canon 300d, 1/1600 @ f5.6, iso 100, 300mm
canon 300d, 1/500 @ f14, iso 100, 18mm
All processed for auto colour, balance and contrast, then border added, then resized to 640*480, with one click of my mouse! Isn't photoshop great?

Very nice shots
I was a mite worried about how you did the second one until I read that it was mounted on the roof! I've taken similar shots myself leaning out of the window with the camera balanced on the wing mirror, but it requires both hands on the camera and isn't something I'd want to do while driving! (You'll no doubt be pleased to know that all such pics were taken from the passenger side of the car lol )

Cheers for the comments
andyc, I've got one of those camera sucker mounts. I had to put it on the roof, as I dont yet have anyway of remotely setting off the camera unless I can reach it. I got a ccf file for my pda to work the shutter, but only at very short distances
I'm going to look into getting a very long cable release, then I'll be able to put the camera anywhere on the car, and get some better shots. Need to slow the shutter down on that shot too, as the scenery is not as blurred as I'd hoped

Self timer perhaps? That would give you 10 seconds to leap back in the car and get moving. The Canon timer remote is what you really want, you can set it to take multiple exposures at programmable intervals, so you could just set it going, drive for a bit and then throw away the 99 rubbish photos and keep the good one. Not sure if it works directly on the 300D or whether you'd need an adapter, there are two different connectors that Canon use for remote releases.
I use about 1/30 sec and a 15mm lens for this sort of shot - seems to work well.

I've tried self timers andy, and although ok, you need to be exactly at the spot you want to photograph, which is not always the case. Your second suggestion is much better though what cable do you use, you've got a 20d havn't you?
