Just fitted my Flaps
#3
I've just done the same this week to my STI!
Did the rears easy.
Front ones were a bit more of an effort, getting those little retaining clips to go inside the arch liner. Managed it in the end though.
One question - have u drilled holes into the arch to secure the inner part of the flaps (rear and front) ???
I take it there's nothing behind it, so its safe to just get the power tool and drill away??
I've just used the outside screws to secure them in the mean time, until i have time to get the wheels off and do some drilling.
Oh yeah, you've got 19's on yours. Is it lowered? If not, are you using the upper set of holes on the flaps??
Cheers

I know what your saying about flaps.... but really had to try and protect the paintwork... when I 1st fitted them I didnt like them ....but they are growing on me the more I look at them (typing this from my laptop whilst sat on the drive looking at the flaps!)
As for the mud .... I intend to drive at 10mph in an attempy to keep the car clean

Because I didnt like them at first, I like you have only screwed the frony flaps on using the holes on the outside of the arch. My thinking was if I liked them I'd screw the other in later. I'm a little aprehensive like you about drilling the arch. Maybe someone could confirm there is nothing behind there and its safe to drill?
Yeah, got 19" on there and is lowered with the Prodrive Springs ... I've used the lower setting on the flaps and they sit about 3" off the floor at the front.
Cheers

Cheers for that Jason.
Guess I'll have to do some looking under the car when I have time.
Or, I may just send Scott a quick email.
Car looks brilliant btw mate. Very nice. I could do with bigger wheels and Prodrive springs.
BUT, HKS SSQV and Ninja exhaust is next on the list.

I've just ordered the 'Afterburner Vortex' for mine .... just love the sound they make ... then I suppose I should look at some gauges ... The Mrs is gonna love that!

I drilled the inner arch definately nothing behind.A little tip put silicone sealent into the drilled hole & also on screw threads then wipe away any excess when tightened to prevent corrosion

You don't have to justify yourself m8 - they look cool
They stop stone chips as you alluded to and reduce water spray making driving behind easier - perhaps it should be law to fit them to all cars eh !!

I like them - intend to fit some on mine when it arrives.
I was thinking about fitting those wide rally ones that fix onto the body - anyone else have this done?
A must for preserving the paintwork especially near the cills

PC555,
I'm not surprised you need flaps if those Superleggera's are 19 x 8. I'm busy fitting 19" Superleggera's to my my94 Classic. You wouldn't believe how far the wheels stick out at the bottom of the wings and the back bumper. My car is coated in muck and I've only driven it four miles home from the garage and two miles of that was through town!!!
Rally flaps are going to be a must for me if the car is to stand a chance of staying half clean and stone chip free on the sides.
Where is the best place to get them from? I'd like some in red with or without graphics if anyone can suggest the best place to get them from.
Thanks
Dave.
