Theres been a little bit of snow lying around in my village since before Christmas. Last Monday we had abour 1 inch which never dissappeared. Since Saturday evening, apart from a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon, its not stopped snowing... These pics were taken today on my way too/from work!
The ABS has been working perfectly too... Didn't come on at all today and yesterday came on once when I had to slam on to avoid a suicidal snow plough on a single track road. He came flying round a blind corner and I had to slam on and swerve out of the way. ABS came on and alowed me to steer the skid without slinding the back end into the plough - perfik!
Woke up to this on my balcony!
About a foot of snow on the garden!
They've given up trying to clear the ressidential streets!
This is just after the corner where I met the snow plough yesterday!
Stopped for a couple of pics in the woods!
Still snowing on the way home!
The Secret to avoiding unwanted ABS action...
... Michelin Pilot Alpin2 winter tyres!
Bridgestone S03s removed for the winter
The lamp has got a hat!
More pictures Here!

Tyres were €184,93 (~£150) each exl. VAT (16% in Germany), Total €1028 total including VAT and fitting!
There not the best in terms of grip on snow and very wet roads but the speed rating is >230kph so I don't neet to slow down on the Autobahn
Given that 95% of the winter the roads are cleared of snow and not too wet, I'd rather have the speed performance than out right winter performance. With AWD I'm still quicker in the snow than the 2wdrivers

Not been able to find anywhere to play here! The Germans do such a good job of clearing all the roads & carparks that there nowhere to slide anymore!!! They've stopped clearing my road now, but the snowbanks at the side of the road from previous ploughing and clearing the footpaths is deadly! Anywhere thats not been cleared, the snow is so deep now that you can't really drive on it!

P1_BEN, and Al, (and others of course) - we will be having a meet at Smagons (just north of Stuttgart) on sat 21st Feb (P1_BEN email either myself or BMWhere? for details - you are more than welcome to come along).
Yup still snowing here too (Munich). I have to say that without snow tires you would have a hard time commuting each day - plus it is dicing with death without them... summer tires dont work under around 8 deg C, and if you have a crash and have no winter tires it is possible you have NO INSURANCE at all!
Winter and snow really isn´t as fun as you boys in the UK think it is... But then again, we can wake up here with foot of snow at the door overnight...

I hate snow.... Praying it's gone for when I go back this weekend..!! i've had one accident in my time driving and it was due to snow (+ lack of experience). Unfortunately the P1 is being sold this weekend to make way for the WR1.. Seems pointless having it sitting in the UK : ( otherwise i would have thought about bringing it out for the meet.

Hi P1_BEN,
I'm down in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance (Where Germany meets Austria meets Switzerland) and kinda make a triangle between Wurzel and Cheeseboy! If you start coming along to our Smagon meets, then we can have a German square! ...wait a minute, all Germans are........
Would love to see the WR1 when you get it!

BMWhere,
Yep from Sydney but choose to live here and love it. Live here in canton Zug where the only benefit is the 10% income tax . I often go out to Lake Constance in summer to drive around, damn nice area. I look forward to catching up with some fellow Aussies and meeting a few Würst and weiss bier consumers....

Yeah, Constance area is quite nice, but its nothing compared to the Zug/Lucerne area, can't blame you for moving there... particularly with the tax thing! As for Weiswurst and Weise Beer, theres no shortage of that round here... we have it for breakfast at work Expect some posts from Cheesy in the morning!
