Phil: Just seen the pictures. You are a very lucky man to get away with just a few days in hospital.
Like I said, anything I can do to help, let me know.

A word of warning to all Scooby drivers who have not found out yet. These cars are fantastic on very wet roads and give you lots of confidence but snow is another matter. To make reasonable progress requires a totally different technique. Next time it snows, if you have not already done it, find a deserted road and find out for yourself what the braking and cornering is like.
I could drive my 16v Astra like a hooligan on snow but the Scooby requires the utmost respect until you have fully mastered four wheel drive and centre LSD.

Cheers guys. I walked away with a broken collar bone and a bashed forehead, which is pretty lucky. I had no passenger fortunately. I lost it in the snow, skidded across a central reservation (made up of grass and snow) and I hit a van coming the other way at about 50 mph. Couldn't scrub any speed off in the snow. Hopefully when the insurance pays out I can afford another one.

Didn't have protected NCB as insurance companies wouldn't do it as I was 24 when I took the policy out.

I've had Protected NCB since i was 22.
I think they'll only give you protection if you have 4 years or more NCB
