Fitted them yesterday and I've got a full strip-down/rebuild to look forward to since I never changed the bump-stops! Plonker!

The front has dropped to 365mm. Average standard height seems to be between 390-400mm so an impressive drop of 25-35mm already!

The back is currently at 355mm, and standard is 355mm. Hmmmmmm.
Maybe it just needs time to settle. Sandbags going in boot methinks!

Still makes the 19's look rather piddly IMO.

"lowered" hmmmmmm.

Such a broad term.....

I have fitted lowered springs.

Has the car actually lowered? Matter of opinion!

I haven't fully put it through its paces yet, as the bump stops have yet to be fitted and the alignment done, but first impressions are good. Less bounce and the lower stance gives obvious improvement with less body roll.

Are the bump stops because of the 19's, if so, surely it can't be assisting progressive handling?

The bump stops are part of the Prodrive kit and should be fitted regardless of wheel fitment

It may look high now, but it was like a hummer before!

The front has actually dropped an impressive 30-35mm!

The rear will settle (I hope).

Thumbs up

Talizman, the springs will settle, but won't make much difference - my car has done about 1500 miles since they were fitted, and as you can see from my pics, it ain't much lower!

Yours is looking sweet - the 19"s just give it the edge.

Don't know how to use the oven though - I'd have to get the misses to do it! (kidding btw).

Thanks T.

Had to go out and measure mine after reading this thread

Rear = 335mm
Front = 345mm

Yep - measured them properly. Even repeated it three times!!!

Thanks to Eibach's.

The front really does have a low aggressive look. Will look even better with a Spec-C front lip.

Cheers

Sorry - forgot to ask.

What wheels are they? What size are the tyres on 19" wheels?
They look fantastic.

If I ever change my wheels (sorry - when) it will have to be 19"

Simon

That's very low, what model Impreza do you have the springs fitted to?

If it's a later STi (or WRX) at that ride-height, you are already about 20mm into the front bumpstop so you have about 30mm of bump travel left before the bumpstop is fully compressed.

Had to go and double check them again this evening - all 4 wheels!!!
Definitely 335 rear / 345 front.

Mike - the car is an STi8 with Eibach springs fitted.
I'm going to put my thickhead on now - what is this bumpstop business?

I take it this is not good?

Cheers

Bump stops prevent the shocks from bottoming out, they only come into effect when the car is heavily laden, or lowered too much. If you dont have bump stops and have shorter springs on std shocks you could possibly damage the shocks under these conditions.

The bumpstop is there to control the last part of the stroke of the damper. On the front of an STi this is about 60mm long and at around 350-355mm ride height (measured from wheel centre to the highest part of the wheelarch)it will be in contact with the bumpstop. At 335 ride height you will therefore be upto 20mm into the bumpstop which if nothing else has probably reduced available bump travel to as little as 25mm but will aslo have increased the effective spring rate by around 50%. Basically, once you turn into a corner or brake , the suspension will go almost solid and you will have reduced grip as the outside tyre will become overloaded. Another unpleasant effect is when you then hit the gas, the front of the car comes up and grip is returned and the understeer stops very sharply.

The car will however feel really sharp as the spring rate is much higher and there will be less bodyroll so on a smooth road, well below the limit it will feel very good. But show it a bump.......

So basically, he either needs aftermarket shocks, matched to the springs, or get the "correct" springs for the car, as the Eibachs are not recommended for this application?

If you get something that has got travel left at this rideheight, the tyres will catch on the top of the inner wing if they haven't already!

These springs sound like they have been developed for a WRX and not specifically for the STi.

Well today I got my bumpstops fitted after finally getting the instructions.

I also had the 4 wheel alignment and geometry settings done!

The car feels much better now!

Mike, what are your thoughts on your dealers opening your (Prodrive's) products and removing the instructions, and then selling the goods to the customers without them?
Is this something that Prodrive encourages or should I just give my dealer a bit of stick?
