Hmm,

Not really an Elitist Attitude some people show is it?

So what if it's not a Ford site? I don't hear those sort of comments when EVOs etc are shown.

Not aimed at you Cem.

Just sometimes this board pees me off - I know it's only a minority, but whats the problem.

This guy has posted a pic of his car on the board and who are we to belittle it?

It's all very well being banter, but that doesn't strike me as such.

Am I am on my high horse before anyone says so

I'm sure we're all RS fans, or have been in the past.

CJEN - done anything else to that superb motor of yours?

Lee,

THAT is exactly the kind of comment I was referring to.

What Scoob do you have to give you such an Elitist attitude? Hope it's good.......

Craig, you don't see me posting pictures of my "cheap piece of Japanese crap" (i.e. Impreza) on a Ferrari board do you?

Cool

Not being nasty or elitest or RS bashing or anything but at the end of the day it is at best a 10 year old Ford Escort. That is fact not my opinion.

The person who owns it is obviously very proud of it and it is not for me to put him down. If you are happy with the car you drive you should not care what other people think of it. I am sure there are loads of people out there who think Imprezas are tacky boy racer cars but I am not going to lose any sleep over that.

I think the problem is that no matter what you drive you always look up to what you perceive as a better car. When I first started driving I owned a C reg Ford Escort 1.3 Popular and looked up to so called hot hatches such as the 205GTi, Golf GTi, Renault 5GT Turbo and Escort RS Turbo. Once I had been there and done that I started looking at what I though were better cars and I have ended up with the Impreza as I think it is the best car in my price range. If money was no object then I would probably have a Ferrari 360 but at the moment I have the Impreza and dream!!

At the end of the day its only an Impreza I hear you say.

Which one sounds best.

OK.
I looked, but I'd prefer a Mk2 flat front.

Well put Craig.

What a sad bunch of snobs some of you are

So what if it is an Escort? Looks pretty tidy to me. Eil132's profile suggests an interest in scoobs (email address) so give him a break knobends.

Whereabouts in Glasgow was it taken?

Joey,

It's 10 years old? So?

It's not about looking up to other cars - it's the way a lot of people on here look down on them.

Guess the owner of the Escort thought that we were a bunch of enthusiasts, not to55ers with our heads up our 4sses who own the car for the image it's got.

If so, that's not an image I really want thanks......

Theres no defending it, no matter what you say.

Like it or not most people have an opinion on whether a car is a nice motor or not, and I would guess that everyone who posts to board such as this has an opinion. Call it (s)nobbishness if you will but can you truthfully deny that there are at least some cars that would make you take the bus instead of drive (Skoda Rapide anyone)? Be honest! And yet even these cars have their own following. My own opinion on Fords is based on childhood memories of my dads Ford Anglia and, later two Cortinas. All three of these cars were, without exception, unreliable pieces of crap. Ford may (or may not) have come a long way since then, but initial impressions last, and I doubt if I will EVER own a Ford. Nuff said.

Sheesh, lighten up you lot! It's only a ten (at least) year old RS for goodness sake!!!

Seriously.
The guy didn't put any sarky comments with his picci, he's obviously well chuffed with his motor ( for whatever reason! ).
Bless him.....

Stef.

And you are entitled to your opinion - its a free country after all.

Skoda Rapide? Don't laugh, can be tuned to amazing degrees.

I wouldn't drive a ford through choice, but thats my decision. Doesn't give me the right to deride others. Sure, a laugh is a laugh, (see many posts with scoobynet -vs- Mike Rainbird ) but IMHO this thread was getting beyond that.

For all you know, that Escort could well be as quick as your Scoob, if not quicker. I've been there, done that, and got embarrassed by a very highly modded but ordinary looking Escort Turbo.

Oh, and before you go off and say thats not why you bought a Scoob,etc,etc...please...dont bother, cos if thats the case, why have one in the first place???
