Mmmmmmm, thought the same as you Steve but then 18's in the same style and colour as the 17's just didn't seem worthwhile.

Gold did

Thanks all, I used to have gold on my MY97 turbo. Completly forgot about the build up of brake dust fast!!!

The old anthracite ones were excellent for hiding it!

ADY 555 - I luckily (very luckily) had a chap contact me who was selling his P1 and he had these wheels on it.

I sold him mine + cash and this is the result. 225/35-18's do fit but you must get the correct offset. I've had no rubbing, neither did this chap and he did track days.

Good luck in your search

Great looking P1.

Have you noticed any change in the ride since changing? I was put off 18's by my dealer who told me it would make the ride a lot harder & the car tramline a lot.

I've tramlined twice under v.hard braking, not seriously though. I guess if you get your confidence up you shouldn't need to brake as hard and carry more speed through the corners. As for the ride (apart from speed humps) the 18's feel better than the 17's, can't explain why though.

Question

I have one more quetion. You had a thread on getting folding mirrors on a P1 and I was wondering if you had any luck. I also want folding mirros on my P1 but haven't found anyone who has been able to get it done. I can't understand why it was removed from the cars in the frist place.

I nearly got the bits together. From what I've found out the wiring does seem to be in place for this mod, all you need is a pair of mirrors and the control switch from an STI-V or VI import.

Grade-A subaru were the best place for about £150 but they didn't have a Sonic Blue pair. The thing that stopped me was that I couldn't prove they would work without shelling out the dosh so I stopped.

What I really need is a nice person with an STI-V or VI so I can try and mirror and the switch

I think they were never taken off in the first place, been speaking with Prodrive and there is a mis-conception that the P1 was built from a complete STI-V type R. The shell is the same and that's about as far as it goes, it was built to a specification, not modded.

I'm still hooked on getting these mirrors working, I can't believe no-one has done it. Anyone want to get together and strip a door down in the name of research???

Great to know your close to cracking the problem. Pity neither of us knows a frendly STi V owner!

I've always been led to believe the P1 was a modded STi V but the way you explain it makes a lot more sense.

What other mods have you planned for your car? I've changed the exhaust, the indicators & badge (I'm sure it was inspired by a pervious post by yourself) and got a set of gauges. And the gear ***** been changed.

Cheers DazV.

Jazz - Oh the list is huge! My main aim is to get a TEK3 upgrade. I did have a HKS downpipe to go with the existing HKS Hyper system but that's now gone and I'm back on the catted downpipe again for a while. Before the TEK3 I'll need to find a cone filter (probably APS), a downpipe (maybe magnex or bpm) and a 3 port boost solenoid. I've not got any monitoring equiptment like gauge's so they'll have to be in there somewhere as well.

Since buying the wheels I saw a P1 with medium window tints which look very classy so I might go for those as well. Would also like the bump steer mod and stiffen up the back suspension to try and eliminate understeer.

Then I want to find a track and go learn how to drive properly

Cool

Can you tell me why your going for that particular ECU remap. I'm not clued up on the pro's & con's of all the different ones out there and would appericate any insight you can offer.

What kind of gains will you be seeing with the remap, inducing kit and down pipe change? I'm also looking into tweaking the performace on the car but have only changed the exhaust for a Nur Spec R. Stopped short of changing the downpipe as I was told a remap would be needed to stop denting. Looking to get knock & lamda link first then get down pipe & remap. And a brake upgrade from OE will also be done, probaly before the performance gains.
