Nice car!

My RB5 (also non-WR) has full decat/HKS panel filter - not dynoed yet but having TEK2 done next week - after that it's a trip on the dyno to see what it'll do.

BTW - what size tyres have you got on your RB5?

Cheers Phil

Cool

Phil,

Those are the original P Zero fronts on there but I've got Toyo 215/40/17's on the back and there's a couple more on their way from mytyres.net yet to be fitted...

Be interested to see what you get from the TEK2, especially the difference in driving.

See you're flogging off a load of kit off in For Sale section - just a clear out or is that what's funding the ECUTEK?

Exclamation

You have 215/40 on the back and 205/45 on the front??????!!!!!

Are you sure that's a good idea?

Shanno - thought for a sec they might have been 215/45/17's on your car, hence my curiosity.

My car has undergone some major modding work this month and the TEK2 is the last bit that I'm having done (at least for a bit).

I'm really interested in what TEK2 will do to driveability of car as putting full decat/panel filter on resulted in serious increase in go-motion! However, after following TurboKitty on Sunday can't wait to get some more torque!

As for the bits that are up for sale I need to free up some space and make a small dent in my now huge credit card bill!

Well, thought it was OK on the same axel? It's only gets naughty when you use cross radials on different axis'...

Besides, one was skint wasn't one and the rears had oodles of tread left on them - done me OK for an extra 6 weeks or so!

Question

Have you spoken to Merv then Phil?... Assuming that you are off to PE to get your TEK2 done?

Heard that John Banks is 'doing it' by postage now! WTF? What next? e-mail your map to someone and let them mail it back to for downloading in to your motor? Maybe we could have 'online mapping'???

Shanno, I could be wrong, but I've always been lead to believe that on a 4WD car you need to use the same size of tyres all round.

There is no way on earth I would change 2 of my tyres to tyres to a different size, even if I was doing both fronts or both rears.

shanne, nice power figures, i told u that over 250bhp would be the outcome.
a nice straight bhp line to peak, ur car must pull well and the torque stays nicely level after peak

just dug out my r/r printout but its not much to go by as every1 was getting crap figures but the lines r almost the same.

brakes look cool also

i'd be interested in how u rate the tek 2 in comparison to the standard ecu.

hey shano,

I had a power test at PE just after my T75 system fitted. Similar figures to yours, 257 BHP and 235 Lbs of torque. Since then i've fitted john bank's Tek2.5, and there's a hugh difference. Haven't had it power tested since

Lightbulb

Sean - how much did John charge you for the TEK2.5 m8? Was it a postage job or did you take the scoob round for a custom map? If so, where does JB hang out?

Mark - cheers fella, Merv commented on the smooth curve too. Also mentioned that my 174 BHP at the flywheel was a good peak figure too (whatever the **** that means?!?!?)...

Anyway, think the ECU might have to wait another couple of months until I get some sponds together. Bah humbug ...

You'll need to travel up to Fife, Scotland if you want JB to do a custom map. About 15mins from the Forth Road Bridge.

Cool

Well folks, took the scoob to Power Engineering @ the weekend and had it plopped on the rolling road for a Dyno-Test.

Here's the pics...

And the Dyno figures to give me a baseline for mods...

259 BHP was more than I expected given that it's a non-WR version with only a full decat and ITG!

Merv reckon'd that a TEK 2 would only put another 10 BHP on it, but the torque figure of 237lb/ft would increase significantly (even more smiles! )

Oh, before I forget, also had some new TarOx Jap Sport disks and fast road pads from JW Racing (fitted by Len from Subaru4you with some braided hoses - top bloke !) Looking forward to the rear EBC's and geometry getting done by Len next week (and maybe a new spoiler too ...

<<< Edited to include braided hoses >>>
