Decided against going to the RAC this year, due to the cost and 'pens' issue. So today I consoled myself and watched the 1993 RAC on video - which was the coldest on record, with most of the stages covered in snow and ice!!
Thought I'd post a few pictures of 'how it used to be'.
Fancois Delecour in Duffi
Ari Vatanen in Kershop (where McRae retired with a holed radiator)
British Rally Champion, Richard Burns in his Legacy
Robbie Head in Escort (who overtook us as we tried to find a route to the stage which wasn't blocked with snow!!)
And yes it was as cold as it looked, -9degC in Dyfnant!!

ahhh the good ol days of the scooby wrx
cool pics.
that rally was more like the swedish event
that was when u could stand on the roads and feel the cars speed past u.
trouble is theres a fine line between spectator fun and safety but GB seems to take the safety too far, keep specs about 50ft away now!!!!

Snow + Rally + 4wd Turbos = excellent to watch
Why can't we have the old format back - charging round the country following the thing - surely that is what a 'Rally' is supposed to be ?

Thanks for the replies guys. Thought the piccys would bring back some memories!!
There are some more pictures (mainly at Chatsworth after the watersplash with some impressive amounts of steam!), but alas I can't get to them at the moment.
I will try and post these in the future.
Meanwhile, there's a brief account of the 2000 rally here.
