Not recommended that numpty IT contractors attempt this, and is best left to Stack agents such as ourselves... Your looking at around £200 to fit the one you see.

£200 you say? interesting, but how much does the Stack unit itself cost? plus, as I have a mechanical odo (not digital like newer cars) could the stack still display the odo and trip (I have vauge memory that esc cossies have mech odo, though I might be wrong)

Yeah, still got the wagon, got it back from the garage this morning after repairing the damage I aquired at the Middx RS show earlier in the year.

As for the sharking, well now, that would be telling! lets say I'm very happy at the moment!

A full road-legal STACK (including odometer) will cost you approx £1000 pounds. If you want one that does boost pressure too its about an extra £200.

It seems expensive but if you take into account all the readings you get from the std 8130



Speed (switchable between MPH and KPH
RPM
Oil Pressure
Oil Temp
Water Temp
Battery voltage
Fuel level
Odometer and Trip meter

(Air intake temp can also be added with an additional sensor)

You can also add remote warning and shift lights.
You can also add lap timing for approx £250 (trackside beacon and sensor)

If you take into account how much it would cost you to get those individual gauges (in something nice like Defi or HKS) the price starts to look not too bad. And good quality accurate shift lights are not cheap either.

If you are lucky you can sometimes find used ones for sale on http://www.racecar.com/ look in the parts forum.

Thanks, I knew they were about the 1k mark, but as you say, for the amount of info in one 'gauge' (as it were) it's money well spent, and it looks cool as well.

If I recall, a nice set of Defi's is about 500 or more quid, plus with my car being an older one, there's not a lot of options for gauge pod locations, really only DIN or A-Pillar (got an A-pillar with boost gauge at the moment), so this would be lovely.

I think I might have to save some money

Hope you're sitting down! Price is £1,087 for the one in the picture ! However, it measures speed, rpm, oil pressure, fuel pressure, water temp, oil temp, battery voltage, fuel level, Odometer and trip.

The speed sensor picks up off a trigger of either the bolts on a disc / bell combination or a specially fabricated one on the front driveshaft. This then is 100% accurate if you program the correct rolling circumference of the wheel into the Stack.

how much would the sensor thingy cost? cos I'd have to have a odo/trip, and what about setting it to the current odo's readings?

If I had the cash I would get one NOW! but maybe after xmas, if I get a nice bonus.

That price of £1087 includes the speed sensor. If you didn't have brakes with discs / bells (like Ap etc), then the only extra cost would be to have a trigger plate made up to go on the drive shaft.

Would suggest you spend you hard earned on some proper brakes first.

Escort is fine, albeit a LOT slower than the Sierra. Probably quicker point to point, but the Escort's top speed, the Sierra could do in 4th !

Probably won't be at Bedford as I am having Quaife diffs put in the car at mo, and I doubt it will be ready by then.

As to getting someone good to drive the car, doesn't that defeat the object of having it, surely it would be more of an achievent for you and Craig to have set the fastest lap ?

Mike, the P1 has gone I've got a Golf PD150 turbo diesel (237lb/ft of torque steer action) as a road car. Comfy, quick(ish) and 50mpg regardless of if you kane it.

For fun, me and CraigH built this as a joint project.









Yeah its road legal too - weighs 480kg and fitted with a Hayabusa lump. over 450bhp/tonne. Craig fancies a holeshot turbo kit for it which can give 340bhp from a 1.3 bike engine - mental.

Bedford is its first real outing - but we cracked 150 at brunters a few weeks ago with 1500rpm left in sixth.

I think it will be some time before Craig and I are up to speed in the westi - it seriously tries to kill you every time you drive it - probably not an issue for a rwd master like you

Mike can certainly catch a slide - only things he needs to work on now is braking and avoiding objects

We're getting the guy to help set the car up - and show us what it can do. Suspension is a little trickier to setup right than a Scoob. Plus we need him to hit Ian everytime he spins
It's gonna be a bit of a test day - not really trying to push it just yet.
