Thanks Ian

Got the TSL carbon fibre reflector replacemnets on saturrday, IMO, very cool and a good price compared to the STi alternatives.

(Trouser if you read this - thanks for putting us up and putting up with us last night ).

You gotta be the Alex who was at TSL saturday and got the last carbon fibre reflects! If so, saw the car in the flesh, looked damn good, despite the rain and near river running down TSL's car park

Came in to buy smoke side repeaters and carbon fibre reflectors for my STi7

Thanks Andrew - yeah sorry I didn't stick around and chat, had to get lunch and then off to a wedding in Grantham (don't ask - had a really awful day after leaving TSL - until I met up with Trouser later in the evening for beer n JD ).

Nice STi btw - get some of the TSL lexus rear light clusters next matey, they will look sweet on your black STi

Where did you get the little STi grill badge btw? One of those might go nice on the front since they seem to have just bunged a plain Subaru badge of the car ???

Andrew, it came with the grill, it's a standard STi 7 grill, hence my only option is either the prodrive light conversion or the STi 7.. You might try Graham Goode or ScoobyMania or DRMotorSport - dunno if they supply anything like this.... or just dump the Prodrive grill + side grills and get the standard STi 7 grill from Subaru!

Ah, damn, don't fancy swapping out the whole grill for that

As for the lights, I've not driven a new age impreza at night other than my STi7, but the lights are miles better than the ones were on my MY00, enough for me not to be too bothered about my loss of driving lamps for now. Also prefer them to morettes myself, maybe I'm weird

Very nice!

Think that the title of blackbeast might have to be passed on to your fine steed.

Markus - nah, not yet matey...

as DRofEvil so astutely noted, its only a GX Wagon...

It'll do until I get the new house bought and sorted... then back to the turbos again!.. Still not a bad record so far, owned '00 Turbo, P1 and '01 WRX prior to this car (as most of you know).

RiceRocket - the front lip is from Subaru (UK), £299 RRP and comes colour coded, its especially designed for a wagon (GX/WRX).

Thanks for all the positive comments

alex, did you get just the front lip? ie. no rear spoiler? if so does it make the wagon look front heavy from the side as the front is so low compared to the back?

do us a side on pic! i have always been put of the lip spoiler caue my towbar means i cant have a rear one and ithought it would look odd.

I have installed the rear skirt as well, along with the Prodrive WR Sports exhaust for the GX... Believe me without the rear skirt it would look even higher at the back... I'll take some side and rear/side shots tonight if I have time.

I'm still thinking about what to do with the side skirts - maybe STi Prodrive or might just colour code them. The Prodrive springs are next on my list of mods, as I'd prefer it to be a little more stable under breaking.. and of course sit lower to the ground

I keep thwacking my lip spoiler now I have the Prodrive springs, very much doubt it'll still be on after the Rally GB.

Jack I can relate to that - in the first 24hrs I crack'd my new front spoiler - but it was on a hare (I never knew these creatures were sooo damn big!).. ho-hum.. prodrive springs on next, so we'll see how long it survives then!

Question

How do you rate the Prodrive WR Sports exhaust on your GX?

Ben,

They are great if you just want other people to hear the scooby engine note - IMO too quiet as I can only hear the engine note (and then not that loudly) when I have the windows down... Performance wise, I think the car is a little bit more responsive, but hard to tell as it stills loosening up...
Ultimately its very driver friendly noise wise - especially if you do very long journeys regularly! Looks very nice on too.. I'll hopefully put some pics up tonight...

FYI - TSL have my standard GX backbox and estimate a TSL alternative for the GX going into production in two weeks time.. they might even do the biggun they produce for the WRX! But, they will certainly be doing the 3" backbox... I want mine to be a bit louder, so will be opting for one of those as soon as possible!

Alex,

I've been thinking about changing the BB on my MY99 Sport for a while but a couple of things are stopping me. First, my current insurance company (Axa) will have nothing to do with it. I'm about to renew though, so I could change to a (more expensive probably) mod-friendly company. Second, most of the journeys I do are 3+ hours, and I'm concerned about excessive noise!

I guess the same non-compatibility is there regarding not being able to fit a new age WRX BB to a classic with the GX - and Sport. If it did fit - I would be very tempted to take it off your hands when you fit the TSL unit if you wanted to sell...

Ben.

Edited to say that if TSL have your OE BB then the GX fittings are alomost certainly different as they already do a BB for the Sport.

Ben,

Correct, the '01 GX (sport) bbox won't fit a pre '01 Sport, sorry mate... But I think Prodrive do a WR exhaust for the pre '01 Sports.. check with you local dealer mate.
