I guess that is what you call fast food

I've heard of people taking a detour when going to get the shopping, but I think that going via Germany is perhaps a little over the top

Heh,
It was the rush to the empty space, had to floor it.

Genuinely though, picture taken from the passenger seat so was off the clock. Ran out of road, so should see 190MPH on speedo.

Friend in his 670bhp variant overtook me at 200MPH

My thoughts exactly, cannot see that being right atall. Top secrets 1200bhp skyline in japan did 315kmh/205mph at what looked like 9000 revs through a tunnel in japan.

Never the less it's a skyline so anythings possible. If you were there though Cem, i take your word on it.

As you can see I have another 7000 revs or so left.

According to my info,

The Skyline GTR-34 runs a 0.752 top gear and a 4.111 final drive. Running on 245/40 x 18" wheels it will pull 24.90 MPH/1000RPM which equates to 161.91246 MPH (approx) at 6500RPM. Not 175MPH.
But its still quite good though.

Why get someone to hold the camera for you though. You only need one hand on the wheel. Unless your a wuss.

Cheers MTR

Although your calculations are probably correct, that is what the true speed would be, but if you add in speedo calibration errors, and probably kph to mph convertor errors, I'd say that 175mph (indication) would equal about 162mph (true speed), that's still less than a 10% error in speedo reading!

Cool

Cem,
I can't see why you would get the hump at someone just posting facts about true speeds and speedo indicated speeds? Less than 10% error at that speed is still pretty good for a factory set up.

I have a pukka software program that works out the speeds from the gearing / revs / tyre size and a smidge over 160mph true speed at 6500 revs for the gear ratios that MTR has provided is spot on. To achieve 175mph you would need to see a smidge over 7000rpm and to do 210mph in an R34 would require 8500rpm to be achievable on the standard gearing / wheel & tyre combination...

I always thought you were a factual person and not a "pub torque" type.

This "real speed" was achieved at just under 7000rpm (the 8k max was achieved in the lower gears) in fifth with 0.80 top gear, 3.36 final drive and 235/40 x 17 tyres... Would have gone faster, but some muppet pulled out in front of me some 800m ahead! (thank God for APs)...

Best regards
Mike R
