SL55s are between 476bhp and 504bhp depending on their vintage with about 550 torque.
They are 5 speed auto with comfort, sport and manual (paddleshift) settings. They use ABC active body control to make the 1.85 tonnes handle well, but they are not really a sportscar, more of a grand tourer
A few tweaks like secondary cat delete, X pipe, Johnson I/C pump, larger heat exchanger, S/C pulley change and a re-map will see you heading towards 575/620 and a bigger throttle body, headers and a new induction system will see over 600/650 very easily. Not much can live with the rolling acceleration once you have that sort of power under your foot
The seats are lovely as is the interior but they are not without their failings such as the ABC going awry and leaking rear boot seals causing electrical issues. People say any convertible is a hairdresser's car, but who cares what people think.... if you like a car crack on.
Here's a couple of pics of mine.

Yeah as you say, from a rolling start these things absolutely fly. I used to think my first Bugeye was just about the quickest car on sale until I drove one of these for myself. It's unfortunately a little redundant for the majority of driving but the top end of these cars is quite astonishing they'll give anything a run for their money.

Took this in a few weeks ago. Not a fan of the naturally aspirated engines normally and didn't know what to expect from it putting all the power on the rear wheels. Took it out a few days ago (before the weather turns) and it put a huge on my face

Must say a few friends have been telling me about the unpredictability of the c63 (combination of power/rear wheel drive) but i've not noticed anything un-ruly about them or the 63 being extra twitchy due to the immense power all going on the rear wheels (or maybe i will find out when im in a hedge looking at on-coming traffic) 4wd just just sounds a safer bet. Mind i'm a bit warey of taking it out anyway let alone the wet.
