My new JDM Type R
Well I had planned to save some pennies up for the next 3 years after selling my Hawkeye STI (The Terminator) but I have only lasted a whole 6 weeks and I just couldn't live withiout a Subaru in my life for the next 3 years!
So I bought this Type R on Sunday. I have only had Newage Subarus so thought I would check out the classic scene. Really pleased with it and it is the basis of a very good car once I have finished with it. It has a 2.1 stroker engine supplied by Slowboy Racing and the engine build finished off by RA Motorsports in Scotland only 4,000 miles ago. A few minor issues need sorting but it's already being attended to.

The wheels were catching the rear arches as it has standard shocks on but has had the springs cut - so Tein lowering springs & camber bolts ordered.
There was a bit of play in the steering and this is down to a worn knuckle joint on the steering rack. Low mileage one sourced to replace.
The brakes weren't great - the front discs are brand new but just looks as though cheap crappy pads put in it. So new front & rear pads, brake fluid flush & change.
That is all there is mechanically that needs sorting. The engine itself is sweet as a nut and runs lovely.
Cosmetically there are a few little car park dings and stonechips that I will get sorted but the paint is actually in excellent condition. The previous owner was a detailer so looked after that at least.

Class - I had two mates with me - 1 a mechanic and 1 who knows Type Rs well. When we were checking it over and revving the engine an old dear in her dressing gown came out and started hurling abuse at us and saying she was going to phone the Polis! that was a laugh!

Love a Type R , congrats !! Wheels look great IMHO!
I think you will find it quite different to the Hawk.
My mate has a Hawk Spec D & cant quite believe how well my humble UK 99 goes with a few mods I want a mint standard V6 type R Ltd to keep (if there are any left ?) so next year its cash in pension time
Cheers, John
