Default STI cluster temp gauge prob

Hi, i had a blown version 6 in my 2000 impreza and i replaced the engine with a version 4. Everything is good except the water temp gauge is saying the engine is overheating. But it doesn't, i can leave my hand on the heads and it runs really good.

And sometimes the temp needle fluctuates really really fast up down, up down in a very erratic way.

i dont know wich version of sti cluster i have, but according to pictures on google, i have a v4 or v6.

i installed my v6 water sensor on the v4 motor and all my wiring is the v6 wiring.

If someone as an idea of what it can be feel free to share.

You checked the sender? Mine fluctuated a lot, I found the terminal on top to be loose on it's rivet. I Araldited round it to stop it moving and it's fine now.
