Agreed, and I'd also go for no more than 5000K: nearer to daylight, and brighter than 6000K.

As above, 5000K is far better than 6000K. Brighter and doesn't lean towards the blue colour of 6000K, nice white light. Looks more OEM as well.

I've also used 4300K, I found them excellent for light output and slightly whiter than halogen.

4300K is daylight. It's used on all OE fitings.

Not usually available easily except in a D2S fitting, etc.

Yes, because you'd need headlight washers and level sensors fitted to automatically adjust the beam level when driving.

I've heard of the rawsers (only polite word I can use) pulling folk for HID lights. Does this mean a £60 fine and points on your licence?

It's a joke that companies are selling these with a small caveat - for off road or show use only! What a joke. If they are deemed illegal then the sellers should be targetted for selling them.

I wish they would pull half the clowns driving with no lights on, on these dark winter mornings.

Not true, I'm afraid.

The MoT regs say, "Any headlight levelling and washing system must work if fitted".

That's all...no compunction to fit them.

As for projectors, it's a bit grey.

The main reason for a fail is that the bulb and reflector/lens aren't compatible: you can't really use an HID bulb in a light unit made for halogen. I've detailed the whys and wherefores before.

But a projector behind the clear glass of crystal lights? Shouldn't be a problem, and you only have to look at the cutoffs on mine to see it isn't. Yet, strictly, since the glass is E-Marked, the marking will be wrong for HID......
