Default Replacing Sigma alarm unit

The previous owner said the actual alarm unit burnt out so he disconnected it, the car has all the components as far as I can see (sensors, dashboard light still flashes red when the doors are locked, etc).

I have bought an alarm unit and 2 fobs and it's meant to be a straight swap, but I don't know where the unit is meant to go.
I've had a quick look behind the glove box where I'd expect it to be but couldn't see much for the heater stuff, am I meant to remove the glove box itself or am I looking in the wrong place?

X reg UK Turbo 2000, I don't have the pin code but I was told it would be literally a plug and play sort of job. The way I understand it I don't need the pin code to change the pin code?

Nope you'd have to put the code in on the keypad to turn off the sigma immobaliser , then you get 30 seconds to enter the code to pair the fob, I've got the codes written down somewhere if you need them, I had a sigma set off a 1999 uk2000 with a working fob disconnected it without changing the key code (you can do this with a working key fob , mine still sits in my garage useless, you can get it recoded at dealership but obviously this will cost

Are these generic to the alarm system like?

So when I plug in the alarm unit I will have to enter the code on the keypad and then again to program the fobs?
I was told all I have to do is plug the alarm unit in and the fobs would work

Both the alarm unit and fobs came from the same car btw, so obviously have previously worked together.

I know to change the pin code you need to know the existing pin code, but if I don't want/need to change it do I need to know it? Can I not just plug it in and press the fob to lock/unlock and if it works it works, if not then I dunno..?

All sorted now, fobs worked. I'm not sure what the other connections to the alarm unit was for, except for the obvious ones (main long connection, siren, keypad, lcd)

Cheers for the help dude

Do you need the code to change the keycode to one of your choice, good it worked, that means my spare unit will work then
