Bulbs for Cibie Oscars
#1
Cibie Oscars with protective lenses.
Thought I heard somewhere that 130 watt bulbs will melt the covers??? is this true???
Hope not as i wanted to run 130's for daylight effect!
Any recommendations??

Edited as re-read your post and it isn't clear (pardon pun). Are you talking about clear protective COVERS for the lamps, or the white Cibie motif covers the lamps come with?
You can run 130w bulbs in Oscar + lamps with clear covers and they will last just as long (which probably isn't very long due to the inherent bad design in the H2 bulb/holder design).
That's no reflection on/criticism of Cibie lamps themselves or the people that sell them, but the bigger wattage bulbs (100w and above) CAN give problems in some cases.

I used to use 130w but they kept blowing and each time I had to replace the holder as well. So now I run 100w and haven't had a bulb go for over a year now, not much difference in light either.
