Changing Fog lights to Spots?
How easy is it to replace the front fog lights with decent spots of the same size then wire them into the main beam?
Surely this must a sensible Mod to help you see better in a Classic?

Yes, those are fine, but use PIAA lamps, which suffer from water ingress which kills the reflector.
You'd be better seeing if you can find a set of the later driving lights which were designed for the newage cars, but fit classics too. they use Hella 1000FF lights.
A mate has those with HID H1 bulbs in and they are amazing. Mine are actual HID lights, and are equally so.

Hella. AFAIK, they are still available from hella dealers, although to order.
They occasionally come up on ebay etc, and are available as halogen or HID, although the HID price will, as always, make your eyes water.
Then you need some foglight covers with the holes in the centre for the light to shine through, plus some brackets which Scoob dealers sell and aren't dear.
You could do the whole lot for around £200, they are much neater than those you posted, and readily adjustable, in two planes like headlight bulbs.
Let me know if you want the part numbers. The lights are 90mm.
We can advise on wiring too.

Heres mine. They are Hella spots from a Forester I believe. Exactly the same size as P1 lights but they are projector bulbs. Hopefully going to HID (H7) them so they match the headlights

If i cant get hold of P1 lights i read that a company called ScoobySport do a kit with Cibie Oscar Plus driving lamps but looking for the cheapest option really. Pity there isnt any driving light the same size as the fogs so i could just switch them over then get the wiring done.

OK two things:
First off, avoid Cibie lights like the plague in that kit. They work well enough, but suffer from reflector corrosion and also bulb failure, at least if it's the lights I think it is. Can you provide a link?
Secondly, fitting: the foglights are fitted with three bolts, one of which holds the indicator in place on pre99 classics.
You'll not find ANY lights that fit like that: why would you? they wopuld ONLY fit Scoobs
Mine are Hella 1000FF HIDs and fit onto alloy brackets, which DO use those three bolts. But the brackets came with the kit, although they could easily be made.
If it were me, now, I'd go with the Hella 90mm lights, Scoob brackets, 9they were for the P1) and an aftermarket cover with hole. Someone on here will know where to get those.
Total outlay would be around £200, but the car looks OE, more so than mine, and the light is excellent.
In fact, the car resembles a P1.......can't be bad, eh?

Can you buy ready made wireing kits to put them on the headlight full beam so that way you can use which ever lights suit rather than buying the whole kit?
May have somone offereing me the PIAA x80 series kit but heard they also have a bad habit of leaking.
Regards Hella lights been told the Hella Comet 500's will fit to original fixings but then you have the wiring yet again which is why i wanderd if you can get the kit separate since only want them on with full beam realy.

You'll not buy a special wiring kit unless you get an actual driving light kit.
But alls you need is a relay, (standard on/off 4-terminal one), some spade connectors, a Scotchlok, some ring connectors, and about 5m of thicker wire, two metres of thin.
I can either post, or send you a set of instructions for wiring that anyone can follow.

Out of interst is it cheaper to convert the head lights to HID instead which would also solve the lack of vision problem or is just the reflectors in the clear Crystal lights are crap so brighter bulbs wouldnt change much.

Got it in one: the classic lights are poorly designed, scattering light everywhere, and use an H4 bulb, the HID version of which is a b@st@rd contraption which ALSO gives scatter.
I've seen some from a well known dealer: the dip was usable, brighter than halogen but badly controlled, and the main beam was worse than my halogen
And now, HID bulbs in a reflector/light unit made for halogen are illegal and an MoT fail

What are ANGEL EYE Headlights like?
Are they worth getting since there the same price as a decent set of spots or are they more just for looks than practicality?
