Default clifford concept 300

this is an old alarm and i have never had any dresire to change anything with it as it worked fine, but had been disconnected for about a year while i did a rebuild,
it has powered up nicely and works well but i wanted to change the autolock to off,
put in valet code and red led stays on, but then it wont accept the * button press to go into programming mode , can anyone let me know if this is a faulty alarm, or do you think its cos of battery in soren being flat for so long ?
ill run it for a while and see how it behaves afeter that , but am i doing somethiung wrong ?

thanks for a great forum very informative

soz - I read it wrong !!!!
paragraph 4 ".....press and release the unmarked button of the plainview 2 switch...." was what I was looking at

it is a damn complicated way of doing things

If I have time tomorrow, I will have a go at chaning mine and let you know how I get on...
