Default HELP! With STI lights(classic)

Hi,i have just fitted some STI lights on my classic and they transform the appearance, better than the tango look
That black mastic sticks better than s@@t to a blanket lol, anyway my problem is that the lights dont have a built in fog light
Hmmm, did any of the sti lights have built in fog light,so i guess this means im going to have to fit a fog light to rear of bumper(tucked underneath till mot time)and tap into wiring loom that goes just before the connector block.
Which wire is it please!
Thanks steve

Most people re-wire ONE of the reversing lights to take a red bulb.
If only one is used, it should be the offside one for the foglight.

Then no holes in the bumper, or fixings below it, looks OE.

Can I suggest you buy a wiring/circuit tester: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DRAPER-125...item2c59a13ded

One like that will find the correct live wire.

Mine is like the above, they can be had from local carshops too.

ho yes! thanks for this... I have to do the same on mine.

mine came with STI lights when I bought it, but no fog light, so I was told I could, as said above, just rewire one of the reverse lights and stick a red light in there...

I need to get my multimeter out and figure out which in the loom is the wire for the fog light, but having the heads of being brown is a good start!

Yes, why would it not?

The test requires you to have one, red, rearward facing foglight under the driver's control. That would be it.

Needs to be 21W or the LED equivalent. Many people stain the clear bulb.

Only a foolish person relies on the wiring colours WITHOUT TESTING.

Trust me........I've been knocked flying off a stool before in France by following someone elses's "wiring code".

Won't happen twice

Thanks everyone, I will put a meter on the brown/yellow first and get a 21w red bulb or led.

I WASN'T testing, that was the problem.

We have a VERY old property in France and the wiring in the old part is, shall we say, basic.

One day, I'm working "live" so to speak, checked out that the black wire in the junction box was live, knew the blues were neutral, ASSUMED the white would be the earth, and bingo, off the stool and picking myself up.

Now, first thing I do when opening one of his junction boxes is to probe every wire with the mains tester.

And even when that says no live, I STILL just brush the tip of a finger over the wire to make sure.

Car electrics, at least the worst you get is a flash, pop and a fuse gone. Or a horrid burning smell

Unless you start messing with coil packs, HID ballasts etc.

Just a heads up, after some hunting around I discovered this bulb type that is ideal for changing your reversing light into a rear fog on the STI rears

Always test, but yeah Brown

Found the previous owner had put in a red LED jobbie in mine, works well off a switch on the dash.
