Default 2.5 ecu help please!!

hi there , just bought a 1997 subaru wrx sti and been told it has a 2.5 engine under the bonnet i am looking for a 2,5 ecu to replace the 2,0 ecu thats in it and im looking for 1 eaither chiped remapt or standard for me to get it remapt chip not realy got clue how abt going to find or buy 1 from so thats why i joind scooby net thanks for takin your time to read this and hopefully some 1 outt there can help me,

First thing to check is is it a 2.5 - check the engine code on the block!

Pm me i have 2004 2.5 sti ecu wich i would sell, best off finding out if it will fit first

You need a custom map as if it does have a 2.5 bottom end it almost certainly does not have 2.5 heads therefore a 2.5 ecu would not work (AVCS etc.). Also your wiring loom will not be compatible, unless that is you have had a full 2.5 conversion including wiring loom, long engine, turbo etc. etc.

97/98 currently best option would be a simtek

Drive it off boost else you will break it

And dont try to find the 2.0 rev limit... That'll end in tears aswell...

on here its somtimes hard to know who knows what they are talking about

JGM is a pro so take his advise

and from my experience if you try and play with a 2.5 bottom end with a standard ecu it goes very badly and costs lots of money.
the other thing you want to thinkabout is a 6speed box or a straight cut box, as the torque will be high from the 2.5, with a map to make the most out of it you will need to do something
