Classic HID conversion
Hi All, i have a classic WRX, with standard H4 Lights ( dip and main ) beam in a single bulb.
I have a single dip beam conversion from a New Nissan GTR that i am going to fit.
If anyone has done a single Dip beam HID conversion, what do you then use to replace the main beam function?
Any info or suggestions would be of help,
Chhers all

I doubt anyone has done it, as its a bit of work, and most people seem to praise the plug and play options on here.
If you are talking about taking the whole projector unit out, then thats another story. Search projects by Darms and Alcazar to name a few.
If you have a standard 1994 WRX, then you wont/souldn't have the cyrstal headlights that favour the projectors anyway. If you do, then you should be able to incorporate the main beams into the driving lights as a way round only having a single bulb.
Need a bit more info on to clear things up first.

Sorry, some more information.
Standard H4 classic headlights, none projector lenses.
I have a single low beam HID kit whcih will fit into the existing headlight housing.
The problem is then putting main beam back onto the car as the HID kit doesnt incorporate it.
I could wire it into the Fog lights, but the lenses are for Fog and not driving.
I suppose what i need is a pair of headlights for a classic subaru separate dip and main beam lenses.
Or maybe a pair of Morettes, but i havnt been able to find a pair of these anywhere.
Cheers joey

So its an aftermarket HID kit for a Nissan GTR? Without the projector?
Plus there were techinically 3 different types of headlights for the classic, the pre facelift, then facelift then Crystals. They all fit, but becauce the Crystals use clear glass lens, there are considered marginally better for light output. All three of those headlights are going to throw light in all the wrong places with a HID bulb, as they are just not designed for it.
The best way is a projector in the crystal headlamp.
Morettes are slightly better as they have two lamps, but as you say getting them is hard. The main headlamp is a H4 unit also, but the inners, that are very hard to get hold of rust up, thats why people remove them.
There aren't any classic headlights that have a separate dip and main, apart from after market angel eyes jobs.

basically what i have is a pair of front headlights from a brand new nissan GTR, which has a separate Halogen Hi Beam
and a HID Dip Beam
So i have the projectors also, but i cant see how i can retrofit these into a classic headlight unit
This still leaves the problem of the main beam.
I know you can get the standard H4 bi kit, but as you say it will throw the light in the wrong places.
I was trying to come up with a better solution
appreciate your help

Sounds like good advice. They must be worth a few quid.
For around £150 and a set of projectors, you could have a dedent set up in the crystal headlights. Just search on Darms/Alcazars and even my project regarding retro fitting.

As above, what you are trying to do os well nigh impossible on a Scoob.
FAR better to retrofit some projectors.
