What happens when you get into the car and try the ignition? Lights?
Is the clock (in the centre of the dash bright or dull?)
There is a keypad by your right knee if I remember correctly, there are some codes in the car manual, maybe have a look in there to see if you can switch the imobiliser off?

Mate, I have a 2004 WRX and had exactly the same problem yesterday !!!!!!! I bought a new battery for my fob but it still didn't work !!! In the end I re-programmed the alarm to recognise the two fobs ( using your PIN and the number pad ). It all works fine now. Worth a try maybe ? Takes about 30 seconds mate ... oh and you can use the code to turn off the immobiliser too !

Hi mate, the problem with mine was deffo the fob. I unlocked it with the key, but it wouldn't start. The car battery was fine though. Do you get the ignition lights on when you turn the key ? Or is there nothing at all ? The keypad for the alarm is to the right of where your knee would be if you were sat in the drivers seat. It sort of pulls down ..... underneath where your fog light switches are ..... once you can see it you just enter in your PIN and this turns the immobiliser off and you can start the car.
