battery discharging
Hey guys,
I have had a problem since buying my 03 Blob STI a few months back, every time i leave it for more than a few days the battery fully discharges to the point where i dont even get ign lights.
The cars eletrical system is totally standard and the battery has just been replaced as that was my initial suspect. Im at a bit of a loss now so any pointers would be great...
Does this model suffer from poor earths ect??

Doesn't sound good mate, not your alarm playing up?
There is a solar panel you can get which keeps it topped up if left for a long period.
But seems like this needs looking into.

Does it have a tracker, they are known to kill the battery.
If you get a solar panel don't run it through the cigarette lighter as that is isolated from the car's live circuit when the ignition is off.
Trickle chargers such as the CTEK 3600 work a treat

cheers for the replys guys, its doesnt have a tracker (that i know of), i may invest in a charger but that is only solving the immediate problem not the actual cause.
i will disconect the alternator with a fresh bat on and see if it still discharges as i have been told it could drain it but i cant see how...
If i removed the fuse from the alarm (is it in the main box? lol) then put a fresh bat on again to see if it still drains would that work?
I think an auto electrician may be my next call...

right i checked all courtesy lights and they do turn out when they should.
One thing i noticed is that the fuel gauge constantly gives a reading if the ignition is on or not. Is this normal or could this be the source of my drain?????????
On a more comical note i managed to lock myself in the boot when checking the light, a quick phone call and the girlfriend set me free from my dark abyss
i am an absolute tool, i just couldnt find the linkage in the dark lol

Locked yourSELF in the boot? LOL, I'd keep that one quiet, was I you 
If you have a multimeter, remove battery -ve and connect it on amps bewteen battery and cable, with everything off, is there a current draw? If so, how much?
BTW: battery inability to keep charge can be an indicator of battery dropped a cell.

well the missus found it very funny and i think a little bit of poo came out when i initially realised lol.
The battery has been replaced so definately not dropped a cell.
I will have to connect a multimeter up to detect the draw and then start pulling fuses, i didnt think of that simple test. Thanks for the gentle comments regarding my attempt of self abduction lol
