Default no heaters

hi, got a strange problem.
got a 96 jdm wrx which was parked up for a year, when i came to use her again(ater buying new battery) the blowers didn`t work then after around a week of driving they magically came back on, problem sorted.
About a month or two later after having starting issues the blower did the same again (didn`t work then one day just came on and worked fine).
Having just fitted new fuel pump (which was the issue when it wouldn`t start)
and disconnecting the battery my blower has gone off again. Don`t think the problem is the relays because once the blowers start working i can turn them on and off with no problems. Any advice or things to check appreciated as i`m having to drive in the freezing cold with my windows open to stop my windows steaming up,
cheers rich

Duff switch on the fan speed selector on the dash?

Think it's called a potentiometer / variable resistor, which allows different currents through to let fan work at differing speeds.

Sure someone who can help more will be along soon!

I'd have a look at the fan motor, it may be that the fans are clogged up with debris after standing........
