Default stereo lights battery problem please help

i have a 53 reg type uk.when stereo is on and you turn lights on it will stop playing and the word call will come up on the screen turn the lights off and call disappears and the stereo starts working again?also when you park the car up the stereo will turn off but the surround stays light up and is draining the batterycall anyone help?

It's wrongly wired. If you aren't good at electrics, get it to a decent ICE dealer/installer.

It sounds like the lighting wire is attached to the "mute" for your in-car phone setup, and that the strero lights are attached to a permanent live.

If you are OK with electrics and have a multimeter or a circuit tester, you can probably find the offending wires yourself.

Basically, the one FROM the lights that is causing the mute needs to be un-attached from wherever it is, and placed onto the lighting circuit where you presntly have a 12V live.

thanks for your help mate but its just the standard stereo in the car from new so it cant be wrongly wired.cheers.

Can you try a known working one?

How long have you had the car? Is it possible it had an aftermarket job, then the OE one put back in?

dont have another one had the car 6 months looks like the stereo has been in it from new.
